retained baby teeth Gracie has retained baby teeth. Her vet noted it on her chart during her last visit but didn't say anything about doing anything about them. Is this something that needs to be done? Could keeping the teeth pose a health problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |
Is Gracie going to be spayed? That is when most people get them removed. If not i would give it time and play tug of war and maybe it will come out on its own. Food can get inbetween the teeth and cause problems |
Get the vet to pull the teeth when she is spayed. If she is already spayed or is not getting spayed, then they will need to be surgically removed if they haven't come out by around 1 year of age. Like Chachi said, food can get stuck between the teeth and cause major problems. The retained teeth can cause cause problems with her bite. |
Thanks guys, I'll discuss this with her vet on her next visit. She is already a year old and I am undecided about the spaying because I'm just so afraid something will happen to her. I do know that I do not want to breed her since she is under 5 lbs. I know many are spayed every day, but I also know that some are lost because of one thing or another. It really scares me to think that she might not wake up. Anyway, thanks for your advice. |
