Teeth cleaning-how often? Average cost? I had Peanut's teeth cleaned last March, but she was spayed at the same time and the cost was $520. I just made an appointment to have her teeth cleaned again and the cost is $165. OUCH! Is this about average? I really like my vet and feel comfortable with her since she is familar with Peanut, but this just sounds expensive to me. How often does everyone have their dogs teeth cleaned? Toby does not have teeth issues, but Peanut has death breath which dramatically changed with the last teeth cleaning. Also, how often does everyone brush their Yorkies teeth? I only brush Peanuts once a week, and I think I would lose a hand (or some fingers anyway) if I brushed Toby's. LOL! |
Teeth cleaning Hi, I have my little boy's teeth done once a year by the vet and because he needs to be put under the cost is crazy, I won't have him put under without having pre-blood work done each time so the cost is about $250 and that is without any extractions. Last year he had two extractions so the cost was about $360 I brush my boys teeth every few days but it seems, from what I have been told anyway that teeth problems are not unusual for Yorkies |
urkiemum... WOW!!!! That is expensive. So I gues $165 is not so bad afterall. I also had pre-op blood work done last time as well as one tooth extracted. Does anyone else feel like they spend more $$ on their furry kids then on their human kids? My ex-husband brings this to my attention every now and again. |
It's getting about that time here also & I'm dreading it.....I called three vets to compare prices & it ranged from $135 to $165 so it looks like yours may be the norm. |
Have you ever tried PetzLife?? I have heard great things about it and it is alot cheaper and a safer alternative than taking your dog in to the vet to get the teeth cleaned. I will be ordering some soon to try on my cocker who really needs it. www.petzlife.com |
WOWSERS! If you lived here, I'd recommend my groomer. She gets badly stained, tartered teeth sparkling snow white and the cost starts at $15.00...depending on how bad they are. |
Before putting your pet or yourself through a teeth cleaning give petz life a try -- it works great for all 3 of mine |
Petzlife Ok, thanks everyone! I will try Petzlife. Just went to the site and it looks good to me. I will cancel Peanut's appointment and see how well this works. You have been very helpful. Thanks again! |

Petzlife is some great stuff, and well worth the money it costs. I use spray, some use gel. Just depends on what you feel more comfortable with using, and what your baby will tolerate. Stuff doesn't have a bad taste cause I tried it on me too! |

I have been using the petzlife & notice a big difference in Tilulas breath, now if I can deny her whines for what ever I am eating, use it every day + dental treats along w/other everyday good grooming habits we wouldnt have to discuss this, but I'm so darn lazy-I gotta snap out of it because the teeth cleaning is dangerous & costly plus unneeded if I were a better mommy:( |
Petzlife By using petzlife, is that the end for cleaning of teeth by vets? |
and what are the application directions? How many times a week and what intervals? |
From what I've read, it's 1-2 times per day. I plan on using the gel with her tooth brush for the first 2-3 months until the plaque is cleared up. Then, I'll use the spray 1 time a day for maintenance and brush her teeth ~3 times a week. I ordered mine from eBay because the shipping was only $4 for USPS Priority Mail. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...1336&rd=1&rd=1 |
