Food question please!! the breeder says she had Skoshi on Eukanuba puppy food. but he hates it here and wont touch it. we told our vet they gave us a sample of purina puppy chow and told us that he would probably touch that before he would ever touch the expensive stuff. we tried it and he will eat that i just have to crush it into smaller pieces. but i know it was graded an F! So is it okay to change it again? i dont know what to do. he loves the pro planned wet food so should i change him to pro planned dry food too? or stick with what he will eat? |
anyone??? |
food Try Royal Canine. You can only buy it at Petsmart or Petco. They have a puppy formula, #33 for small breeds. My pups love it. Great food and healthy. They also have a mini-puppy type, that is smaller crunchies than the #33. No perservatives or harmful toxins in this food. |
yes its ok to change....i had my baby on nutro natural choice, and now just switched to merricks puppy platter.......she lovesssss the merricks...and it is really good food. i also recommend califonia natural, canidae and wellness.....bella has been itching lately....i dont know if it is the food switch, so i am starting the missing link tomorrow and if that doesnt help i will be switching to one of those foods i just listed......:) |
okay thanks i will try those first! |
do you think he will get sick from me feeding him purina since its a F food? |
I agree with linkay12003. Royal Canin is a really good food! I had Zoey on Pedigree for a whole year. I had just recently heard about Royal Canin Yorkshire so I switched her to that about 3 days ago and she loves it. Royal Canin have alot of good reviews. It does come specially for puppies as well and the kibble size is perfect! |
look up dog food analysis and it will rate dog food, the royal canin did not score very well, brewers rice, cellulose, beet pulp and corn gluten meal, none of it very good. I had chester on it and I thought it was better than that. I heard the solid gold puppy food is rated very well. |
Mine love the Royal Canin Yorkshie & have been doing really well on it for several years. Before using it we had lots of problems on some other foods. And my vet, who before switchiing was talking about getting teeth cleaned, now says he's never seen such clean teeth on an elderly yorkie :) |
Our furbabies have quite the taste buds..:D...I used to give them Science Diet, because the Vet recommended it, then they got tired of it and stopped eating it..I was at my tack shop (horse store) and telling my friend about the problems with them eating.. She gave me several bags of samples of NUTRO SMALL BITES, and they eat them up, and its been over a year now and they still love it..:cheer: I just want to say, I went to several workshops put on by PURINA, (for my horses), and will not feed them dog food by them, too many additives... NUTRO has no additives its all natural and will help with their overall growth..:woof: Try and get samples and see... |
I also highly recommend Solid Gold. Mine wouldn't eat the Merricks Puppy Plate (the kibble is a little on the big size), but LOVE the Wee Bits. This isn't a puppy food (though Solid Gold does have a puppy food) but the kibble is smaller than the puppy food. Just feed a little more than recommended for a puppy. |
We have been really pleased with the Solid Gold food. I mix the puppy, the wee bits, a little canned, and the seameal for Rex... and he eats it like a DOG!!! LOL! His energy level is great and his coat is beautiful! Try it... |
Mine eat royal canin and love it |
From my reading at YT and personal experience small puppies like either canidae, royal canin or nutro. Mine likes canidae mixed with merrick can food (one spoon). She will gobble all the food and plate clean. Good luck. |
we bought the royal canine mini babydog one lol but he doesnt have all his baby teeth yet soooo he still cant chew it. so ive chopping it up and mixing it with canned wet food. he loves the canned wet food lol. he trys to eat them dry and whole but he just cant! |
