Odd pooping behavior I thought I'd post this here since Stitch is neither sick or having an emergency... I've noticed over the past few days that Stitch has been, well...pooping differently. (Sorry if this is too much information...) He'll "assume the position", poop a normal-looking amount, and sniff it, which is normal. But then he'll "assume the position" again for a good minute or so as if he's trying to get the last bit out. Sometimes a little toothpaste-sized bit will come out, sometimes not. But he'll try 2 or 3 times, sometimes for up to a minute. I don't think he's constipated, because he's going regularly, and his stools are soft and normal-looking. I did try to add psyllium fiber to his breakfast this morning, but he turned up his nose at it and wouldn't eat it. I guess canned pumpkin is next on my list, but I don't want to oversoften things and make a mess. Any thoughts? Do his anal glands need to be expressed or something? |
hmmm.... you have me stumped.. because usually they will try and nothing will come out...whcih is constipation... i don't know that i'd add pumpkin because you said he isn't having diffiuculty.. that just might add a problem... does he scoot his bum?? that is usually the first sign of anal gland issues... if i were you i'd keep an eye on it for a few days.. if it doens't go away.. i'd call the vet and see what they think. |
To me, that isn't that odd. Not that I'm an expert!:D They may be trying to empty their anal glands when they're doing that. At least, that is what I've often thought. |
