My 2 Year Old Stopped Eating Anyone have this issue with your Yorkie? About six months ago I switched his food from Max Puppy to Adult Wellness Dry (Chicken) about a month after the switch he stopped eating and became really anemic....after spending hundreds of dollars on every test the vet said he is healthy he just started eating again after the vet recommended I mix in canned wet food (Royal Canin Fish Low-Fat). About a month ago I switched the Royal Canin Fish Low-Fat with Wellness Fish canned food mixed with the Wellness Dry Chicken food and he seemed happy. Now he has tapered off to not eating again. Yesterday I got some Wellness Venison Wet food and tried that and he won't eat that either! What do I do?! Has anyone ever had a Yorkie who doesn't like their food after a while or doesn't like Wellness? Do you recommend anything else? I am so worried! :( |
Mine is picky with food and contrary to what everyone believes, he wouldn't eat even if he is starving. He wasn't like that when I got him and ate just plain kibbles (Innova Puppy Dry) for a while and then started to not eat. I now mix human food on rotation such as boil eggs, scramble eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, fruits, some boiled chicken breast (very small and few pieces) to his kibbles (Canidae) to entice him. Sometimes I add some wholesome baked food from the store. He eats better now although he doesn't really eats alot. |
Last year I had a similar experience with my male yorkie.I got a tip that really worked wonders: Buy freeze dried liver treats at your local pet store. Crumble them in a blender to a fine power that you can store in a jar. When you put the food out, sprinkle a small amount of the liver powder over the top. Not sure if this will help you, but it sure worked for my finicky little eater. |
I use royal canine yorkshire terrier & havent had much problem. just as we get sick of Mcdonalds & go to Burger King for awhile...I dont think a dog would like eating the same thing every day 4ever & if someone is slipping him table scraps he wont eat because he is waiting on the good stuff. Have you tried the yorkie royal canine? Hope you figure it out soon:confused: Keep us posted. |
I mix boiled boneless chicken breast in with their dry food. I chop it up really small then I smoosh it with my fingers and mix it in really well. My two get so excited when I am fixing it and they eat like little pigs. When I am out they go nuts. |
"The Terrible Two's" Maggie is 2 also. Seems like most of her first year, she thought we were running a buffet line cafeteria here. What I finally came up with was this. I boil 7 chicken tenders a week. She gets one each morning. The rest of the day, she gets her Pro Plan for Small Breed Dry Dog Food. I just leave out about 1/2 cup of dry food. She nibbles on it throughout the day. I really do believe she knows it's called "Eat It Or Do Without" around here now. When I finally quit being her private chef, all else fell into place. |
  Yes,thats what I had to do also. |
