Homemade food? Does anyone here make treats or anything like that for their yorkie? I wouldnt mind taking the time to make something for Jerry. He has a sensitive stomach so Im very careful what we give him. But just curious if anyone does this from time to time. Thanks, Michael |
We make baked liver treats and frozen cottage cheese also frozen yoghurt treats our dogs love them. |
Baked liver treats sound interesting.....do you have a recipe you can share? :) Michael |
Here's a site with a lot of fun recipes: Dog treats I also bought the Three Dog Bakery cookbook at my local bookstore. |
We just boil the liver in about 2 litres of water for two whole livers with two teaspoons of garlic powder. Slice into thin strips. Dry in the oven on gas mark 2-3. Leave it in until it is able to be snapped apart like a biscuit. |
I bought a cookbook titled "Barkers Grub" which has some good receipes ... we actually tasted them and they are good!! I just take a day and bake them, cut them in tiny pieces, spread on cookie sheets to freeze and then store them in the freezer in zip loc bags. They stay fresh and Toto loves them frozen or sometimes waits a minute or two for them to thaw! ;) |
Wow...what excellent resources....I'm going to give all these ideas a shot. I really worry about what we give Jerry sometimes. If anyone has any other suggestions bring 'em on :) Thanks, Michael |
homemade food My Yorkie had a severe reaction to his last vaccines. He had to have I.v. and benedryle. He is okay now, which I largely attribute to me adding to his kibble. I add chopped fresh parsley, cod liver oil, and probiotics to boost and repair his immune system. I also give him raw meat when I eat meat. Meat is always hormone and antibiotic free. |
