question about baby teeth 1 Attachment(s) Missy is almost four months old and she is slowly getting teeth. I read a couple of threads about pulling teeth. Is it a must that all Yorkie's get their baby teeth pulled or does it depend on the pup? |
I don't know if it's a must, but my vet said it's very common with Yorkies and other small breeds. Wrigley had to have 14 teeth pulled, she had double rows of teeth. |
Its not always a must some lose them on their own. Mine had 4 pulled when they were spayed and neutered because I didnt want to take the chance of their having to be put under again later |

Bobbi had 2 rows of teeth as well. When I took him to my vet, she recommended I wait for a couple more weeks and see how he did. Sure enough...........he just went back last week and has lost the top row and has a perfect set of teeth. His canines are still doubled but they are loose and should fall anytime ;) I got so excited because if she would have been not the trusting vet she is...........she probably would have pulled them out and not given it time. Of course, this is MY experience only. |

Yes, I really trust her with my furkids...........she is excellent and usually gives me rationales as to why etc...........I love it! Good luck~ Jess |
My furbaby lost her baby teeth at the same time her adult teeth were coming in, so no problem at all with double rows of teeth. I think it just depends on the puppy. |
My Ferdinand had a couple teeth that were doubled up, but all of his baby teeth ended up falling out on their own, so he didn't have to have any pulled. |
My Bella lost all her baby teeth right around 5 months except the two canines. She ended up having them pulled when she got spayed. The adult teeth came in right in front so she definitely needed to have them pulled. |
baby teeth Jay Tee might need his baby teeth pulled. I went to the vet last week and he said sometimes they dont come out. So we are waiting another month to see what happens before we pull them. My first Yorkie was a year old when I got him and my second yorkie he had big teeth. His teeth all came out with no problems. I found them around the house when he lost them. But Jay Tee I think he'll need his teeth pulled. He has about four uppers that will need to be pulled. Im hoping they fall out on their own. Jay Tee is 6 months he has learned to play ball, sit and lay down. He is doing very well with training. Now If I could just get him to go in the box and not on the wee wee pad. But I started him off on the pad he also goes outside. He is also going with us to Florida next month. I spoke to my vet about this and he said it was alright to take him. He will be with us and at my friends house. He will have all his shots by then. What do you think about taking your Yorkie out of state. :animal-pa Hanna |
Wrigley had lost teeth on on her own, but those 14 weren't going anywhere without being pulled. She was a little over 6 months old and we had it done the same time she was spayed. I think it hurt us more than her, within a day she was back to herself! |
The two yorkies I had never had any teeth pulled. Now we have a 15 week old and waiting to see. |
Cozy lost all of her baby teeth but one without problems. She has a baby canine and an adult canine on her top left side. I think it is cute. The vet says that they can pull the tooth if I want but her other teeth are in proper alignment. So I figure why bother if it is not causing her discomfort or pain why make her have any. |
