Just a Sight Ear Odor Can anybody advise me on how to keep Maggie's ears smelling fresh. There is no redness nor does she scratch. It's just that I just bathed her the other day and she smells again. I traced it to her ears. Thanks. |
Your dog may have ear mites. I remember when Pookie was a little puppy, we noticed a weird smell and took him to the vet. The vet said Pookie had ear mites and gave us some medicine to clear up the problem. After a few days the stinky smell disappeared, and Pookie was fine. |
...Sometimes after bathing, it's possible for some water to have gotten down in the ears. Perhaps this is the cause. Gently drying the inside of the ear with cotton to remove some moisture would help. The last time comet had smelly ears, an ear infection followed a week after. Keeping the insides of the ears dry, and preventing any moisture would help. This is particularly true for yorkies with floppy ears like my Comet. |
Hi Stitches29! I found some ear wipes at PetSmart that work really well for cleaning their ears. I do Oscar's every few days. I'm amazed at the accumulation of dirt that comes out. They also sell eye wipes which are good for getting rid of those goobers. :) |
Any time I've had a dog or cat with smelly ears, it's usually ear mites. Check for little coffee ground looking black junk in there. |
