Dewormer.... I picked up Lily last week when she was 8 weeks and the breeder gave me some dewormer and said to give it to her at 10 weeks and 12 weeks....does that seem right? She said its 5ml to every 5 lbs so give her about 2 ml. (lily is about 2 pounds) I dont remember giving Gracie wormer because she was 12 weeks when I got her and the vet always did it for me after that. |

Have her vet checked 1st, she may not have any parasites, so why put her through it if not necessary. |
when i picked bella up from the breeder she had kennel cough. the breeder gave me some anitbiotics to give her. i ended up not giving them to her and waiting till the next day when i took her to the vet...when i asked he said absolutly not to give her that, and gave me something else. not saying this will happen to you, but i would have the vet check her first for sure!!! good luck!! :) |
She goes for a check up this week so I will ask him then....my breeder uses the same vet as me and she usually gets her items from him so I figured he had told her to deworm Lily at these specific times but I will check with him for sure on wednesday........ |

I have a read a lot of posts where people have brought their puppies home at 8 weeks. I didnt ask for an OOPS WAY TO YOUNG I asked a question about dewormer not an opinion on my breeder..... Some of u are so right there to attack every little thing......My puppy is not neglected or scared. She actually gets along just fine. Sleeping soundly at the moment in her playpen. |

Thanks tho to the people who responded to my original question. |
So if my vet gives me a medication and tells me to give it to her such and such time a day he is putting a burden on??? My puppy is not a burden nor is giving her what she needs. I will ask my vet like others suggested...that is y I asked because when I got Gracie from her she never had me give her dewormer. Sorry for the offenses I just listen all the time to people who make comments in posts about something negative about what u should have done....it discourages people from asking questions in fear of being judged and it happens a lot! |

As a breeder, I was taught the breeder should always take care of any initial vet care and never send a puppy home without a minimum of 2 vaccinations and complete deworming if necessary. I've yet to have a litter dewormed. |
I am by no means an expert but I would ask the vet about starting her on a heartworm prevention medication. My vet has me to use Interceptor because it treats the following: INTERCEPTOR Flavor Tabs are indicated for use in the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, the control of adult Ancylostoma caninum (hookworm), and the removal and control of adult Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina (roundworms) and Trichuris vulpis (whipworm) infections in dogs and in puppies four weeks of age or greater, and two pounds body weight or greater. So this will take care of everything, but ask your vet first. I hope this helps!! |
