Treats and diarrhea Anyone ever experience their baby getting the runs after trying a new treat? I know that changing foods can cause stool issues, but I've never encountered treat problems. I picked up these new treats at the vet that seem to be pretty healthy (and they are made locally). The girls go nuts over them, but they gave little Miss Riley the runs. I don't know if it's because a treat to her is practically 1/2 a meal considering her tiny size and poor appetite so it would almost be like changing her food or if it just doesn't agree with her. Has anyone else had this experience? Do I just discontinue the treat with her or introduce tinier bits more slowly? I was thrilled to find something she would eat, but I don't want daily runs either. Ingredients: Chicken, Corn Starch, Wheat Flour, Sorbitol, Potassium Sorbate, Caramel, FD&C Yellow 5 & Sodium Propionate. Crude Protein 18%, Fat 4%, Fiber 4%, Moisture 29%. |
Gracie has gotten diarrhea from treats several times. I have yet to figure out what the culprit ingredient is. I tend towards the more organic types of treats without a lot of fillers. I have started baking my own, made from honey, oatmeal, oat flour, pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. Gracie loves those made with pumpkin and it keeps her regular! I also like Simon and Huey's treats. They are made from similar types of ingredients. |
Yorkies have the most sensitive stomachs I've ever seen. Some will go right into bloody puddles. I wouldn't giver her anything that causes diarrhea. Just isn't worth it. Try the Gerbers Graduate real fruit juice treats. There are six packages in a box. They look and feel like gummy bears, only softer. When I first tried to give both Zada and Azrael one, they just took a sniff and stood there. I had to take mash it in half so they could smell it better then they took a lick and the rest is history. Each time they hear a package being opened they come flying. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ruitsnacks.jpg |
zoe gets this from food or treats. Our vet told us to stay away from the following in case she has an allergy to them: corn soy wheat |
