Boy problems Raja's dad and I were really worried when we noticed the little lump on his lower belly. I made a vet appointment right away and it turns out the lump is his testicle (thank goodness it was nothing else, I guess!). I poked around in some past threads and saw this happens with younger pups, but our Raja just turned 1 on Jan. 4th making him 26 weeks old. This doesn't seem normal, but I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? If so, did they "drop" naturally or did you just go with double-incision neutering? I do want to have him neutered, since I read it lessens the chance of cancer, but I'd like things to happen naturally and have a normal one-cut surgery. The vet also said we should have his baby teeth pulled - should they have fallen out already? I'm always wary of their suggestions because the exams are very rushed and they always conclude that we need to spend more money. (I have found a better vet that we'll be visiting next time) :animal-pa Raja's Mom :animal-pa |
Not all lose their baby teeth. Both my girls had to have some removed. Misha's canines, the roots were so long they never would have came out on their own. As for the testee thing, don't know about that. Hope someone else does since were getting our little boy Monday. |
Mine had 4 baby teeth pulled just for the fact that the vet said they might not fall out on their own and cause problems in the future. Same problem with the roots. Straight teeth, etc. |
Sorry, can't help with the testicle issue, but I do know that it's not uncommon for yorkies to have some of the baby teeth pulled. |
The testicles should have dropped by now. If one hasn't then it needs to be removed or he will have complications because of it as he gets older. And there are several yorkies that retain their puppy teeth and it is best to get it all done at one time. My parents had a poodle that had a retained testicle and they had it removed but they didn't neuter him, they should have though ,because a dog that retains a testicle should not be bred because this can be passed on in the genes. |
