Is There ANYTHING That Is Safe? I know that greenies are out of the question for dogs. I didnt even know that dogs have choked on those before I came to this site but I never thought of using those because it looks like a gross peice of green wax. Anyway is there ANYTHING that is dental related (bone wise) that my dog wont choke on? Of course I will sit with him and monitor his chewing. But im so paranoid after reading so many stories about the peices coming off and being lodged inside. Does anyone have a recipe so I can make my own dental bone? Or has anyone tried this? Dingo Denta- Treats Dog's chewing helps remove and prevent tartar and plaque for whiter, healthier teeth. With Chlorophyll to help prevent 'doggie breath'; won't crack, crumble, splinter or stain. Fully digestible with Bromelain Enzyme for better overall digestion of your dog's diet plus Vitamin E for healthy skin and coat. I saw them at walmart this morning and maybe I was comforted about the part where it mentions that it wont crack, crumble, or splinter Is it true? |
Nylabone edibles are safe.. as are Pedigree Dentabone. |
A good old bully stick will help clean teeth. Course they won't give fresh breath! |
My dogs get BullySticks. They also get shank bones -- I have my butcher cut the shanks 1/2" to 3/4" wide -- I cook the shank and make a yummie people stew for dinner clean off the bones and they are the safest chew out there. My guys have been chewing shank bones for years (even the Boxer) and have yet to even put a dent in one -- barely a toothmark. I know that lots of people have great success with Nylabones, but my little guys are very aggressive chewers and manage to gnaw off off chunks and swallow them. |
we stick to nylabones |
We use bully sticks the non stinky ones Merrick's brand is good and also beyond spoiled (Kathryn V) her pixie sticks are good too! |
Bully sticks rock!! |
Some dogs get some serious diarrhea from bully sticks others do ok. Frankly I like to give the little round leg bones that are about 1 inch thick. I take the marrow and all the meat off first. Give them raw. |
bully sticks for lexi |
We use bully sticks, nylabones (not the edibles, they upset tummies around here) and real bones we get from PetEdge. |
I've given my dogs every kind of nylabone there is and no one chews on them. I tried the greenies once when they first came out and Kitty got sick to her tummy.:( I just brush their teeth now.:p |
Bully sticks (only the good non-stinky ones) and toothbrushes over here too. |
