Vomitting!!! Help.. Hello my fellow yorkie lovers!!! Havent been in here in a while.. but Sam and I need your help. For the last 2 days Sam wakes up vomitting!! I hear him trying to vomit until it comes out. When I cleaned it up it had some specks of blood (or so I think its blood). Through out the day he is fine.. his poopies are normal.. and hes eating great. Is it just a yorkie thing from time to time? I am soooo sad for my pookie.. I guess I have to take him to the vet. Any feedback would be much appreciated!! Thanks!! :( P.S Sam is 2 yrs old |
I would take him to the vet but am curious what does he throw up? Is it bile? Have you changed anything about his diet? Does he throw only in the mornings? It sounds like other than the vomiting, you have not seen any other changes taking place. Let us know how he is feeling. |
Bella!! Thank you for responding!!! I am so desperate I am hanging around waiting for a response.. lol!! Well his voimit is all liquidy.. saliva and brown in color. No chunks or anything to where maybe his food is not digesting. His food is the same.. Iams and occasional Ceasers. I havent seen anything major (knock on wood) I guess I will see hows it goes. But yes his vomitting has been happening in the mornings only. |
So I am assuming that when you feed him in the mornings he holds that meal fine. It is just at night and a recent occurrence(last two days). I would take him to the vet anyhow. Is there a possibility that he has gotten into some treats at night? |
My little one did this for about a week. I thought that she was doing this because her empty stomach was upset. I started giving her a little treat right before bed and the morning vomitting stopped. I don't know if the treat helps her or she had a little cold that cleared up. Hope your baby feels better soon! |
Try giving him pepcid once every 12hours .Check with the vet for the right dose .This helps my little boy . |
Peeka does this sometimes to when he has an empty stomach mabey try feeding a little closer to bed time |
Poor baby:(! I hope that he's okay! I agree with the empty stomach thing, though usually vomitus from that is yellow and foamy. I'm so glad you're taking him to the vet, you just never know with these little ones. Is there any possiblity that he ate something he shouldn't have, like some kind of object? If there is, ask the vet to do barium series x-rays right away. If you wanna know why, search my name and find my RIP post for my baby Starr:( Big hugs to you both:love:!!!!!!!!!! |
I agree with the empty stomach theory - Ruthie and Oscar have done this a couple times too and having treats before bed (or access to food at night if they get hungry) has eliminated the problem. Before rushing off to the vet, I would try feeding him tonight closer to bedtime, or giving him a few treats so that he has something in his tummy. If he still throws up the next morning, then maybe call the vet and see what they suggest. |
