Wrapping ears? I bought my lil Wicket from my aunt, and she told me if his ears started to droop, i needed to tape them, and she described how to do it....fold them in half and tape them together, then tape the 2 ears together. My neighbor has had yorkies in the past so I asked her to come help me tape his ears the first time. she just taped the bottoms of the ears folded in half, and didn't tape them together like my aunt said. Then I took them off a day later and rewrapped them soon after the way my aunt said. 24 hours after I took them off (I left them on for over a day) they started drooping again. Any time that they aren't taped I sit and rub his ears to strengthen the muscle, like my neighbor showed me, but they still end up drooping. Is there anything else I can do? Am I not leaving his ears taped for long enough? Let me know :) |

I taped the individual ears and didn't tape them together. I left the tape on for 3 days and then let the ears rest for a day. I repeated this 3 times. Lucy's ears are now standing up perfectly! |
Hi, I actually take Tampons and use those as splints. I wrap the tape around the ear and tampon and then run a piece of tape ear to ear. Be sure you are keeping the hair trimmed on the ears or it will break the cartilage. I know this sounds crazy,but if your baby is teething ,one or both ears may droop. Keep the hair cut on the ears and if they ever stood up ,they will again. Good luck, Pam |
My breeder gives all her puppies Nutra-Stat and firmly believes this helps bring the ears up. My daughter's yorkie's ears were slow in standing and the breeder gave her some calcium in powder form to mix with the Nutra-Stat and the ears were up in a couple of weeks. She advises to use Nutra-Stat at least the first year and especially during the time they are loosing teeth and getting the new ones. She told me this process takes calcium and the ears could actually droop during that time. My sweet Stella's were up when she was about 6 weeks old. |
