Stitches... What type of stitches does your vet use for neutering? My vet says he used 'dissolveable' stitches from the inside? |
my vet used reg stitches dont know why i thought they would put dissovable one's too but they didnt but he's healed perfectly |
Rudy had regular stitches also. He really didn't seem to mind it when the vet took them out. Rudys Mom (Dawn):animal-pa |
Tatum had dissolvable stitches inside and some weird kind of wire ones outside. It looked a little gruesome but I thought the concept behind it was great. They looked like regular stitches from afar but they were actually really, really thin wire. The idea is that when the dog tries to lick the incision, they don't like the feel of the wire poking their tongue so they don't lick. I could touch them - it wasn't like the wire would cut you - it was just not "desirable" to the dog to lick the incision with those stitches. I wish I would have thought to take close up pictures at the time because I've tried explaining them here before and it's kinda hard to. |
Bernie was neutered when we got him, but if it's any consolation I know PEOPLE who've had the dissolvable stitches, and they've done fine. When is your baby's surgery??? |
I don't know yet. I have just finish calling vets and we have just decided changing our vet for good to another vet whether it be for routine check-up or whenever he needs a vet in the future. The new vet is much more reasonable and he is good and recommended by a friend who has been going there for the past 10 years. We might not neuter him after doing lots of research but I'd still like to find out everything that I need to for better knowledge and in case we might still do it in the near future. |
Both my boys was neutered at 7 months. They both had dissolvable stitches. make sure you take home a e-collar for possible licking problem. |
