Help.....i Need Info From Eveyrone......
 

I just wrote a very long thread and of course I sent it and it is lost somewhere in PC world, and I need to get to bed, so I just need the truth, good, bad, hurtful or not about getting Tyson fixed, he is a family dog and that is what we got him for and always said we would get him fixed and I am still all for it, but my fiance wants some more pros on the whys........We have read a lot of info and talked to our vet we were just looking for ANY AND ALL input from you guys....he is a little over 5 months and weighs a little over 6 pounds......Just a little on him and his habits....He is very loving, can be independent at times but very very sweet pup. He started "loving".....as I like to call it..........on his toys at about 4 months, and I can deal with that. He has only ever been over to his grandmas,but he has been letting her know by lifting his leg not to forget about him while hes gone swince he was about 4 months and I really havent brought him to many other familys homes because of that, but we do bring him everywhere else we can get away with. Not much else I can think of right now but I am tired so please help, any info or good or bad info/personal stories would be great........THANKS

Speaking from experience with a male dog, I say go for it! I'm sure there are medical reasons that others here could tell you but not neutering our male toy poodle was a mistake on our part. He was a marker! I couldn't take him to anyone's house or have another dog come inside our house. I don't know if there are medical reasons that say you should do it - like the medical reason of preventing cancer by spaying females - but I know the humping and marking were a major pain to us with our male.

Let me correct myself, I CANT DEAL with him loving on his toys........OK..........I just reread my post and I must have been tired whn I wrote that. Thank you for your reply. I hope that getting your poddle fixed helped with the marking. Tyson goes in in 4 days so all info would be great. THANKS AGAIN

Well, actually we never did get him neutered. We ended up using him as a stud. It's pretty rare in our area to find another RED toy poodle - not apricot but copper penny red - so when someone saw him and asked, we agreed to use him. It was after that that he started marking even more but not having enough experience with the male dog issues (and not having a site like YT to rely on to teach me these things) we didn't realize neutering would have helped out with that problem. A few years later he started having heart issues and it was a bit risky to put him under anesthesia so we never got him fixed. He was still a healthy (with the aid of medication) happy pup all the way till the end though!

Howie calmed down quite a bit after I got him fixed. He started acting more like a dog than a puppy which meant less barking and better obedience.

Just a word of advice, ask your vet for pain meds just in case. Howie needed them and didn't have them and we had to do without. I've never felt so guilty in my whole life. I bundled him up in his blanky and snuggled him on the couch all night. By the next morning he was all better though. You also might want to get a baby onesie so Tyson can't lick his stitches.

I know it's nerve wracking, but your baby will be just fine!! :)
