OMG!!!!!! read all the responses to your posting....... Or you klidding me!!!! YOU TOLD HER TO INCREASE HIS FOOD.. WHAT THE HE__ IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!! GET THAT POOR DOG TO A LOVING FAMILY WHO WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT!!!! YOUR SISTER DONT NEED A REALITY CHECK SHE NEEDS TO BE KICKED IN THE A--.....WHAT KIND OF HUMAN BEING IS SHE. JUST PLAIN STUPID OR WHAT??? this better be a troll post, cuz it really got me pissed off... |
hmmm...i posted a reply yesterday but it looks like it didnt post. anyways, i spoke with my sister about it and she is increasing the amount that she's feeding him, although she is still regulating it. also, the vet has not caught on to it because she has had to switch vets. i think she got the idea to do this because she asked the vet how she could keep him small and he said it depended on what she fed him (presumably talking about his weight NOT the size). also, she has some friends with yorkies who are very picky eaters so they naturally do not eat that much so she figured that her little boy could go with not a lot of food either. thanks everyone again for the replies and i'm working on her to increase the food little by little. also, doesn't the amount of food puppies require increase until they're a year old? and does anyone know of any diseases or specific problems that can happen so that it can scare her? Lorraine just told you some of the problems it could cause..... Hypoglycemia ( low blood sugar) leading to death in less than 10 minutes in some cases from onset. Liver/kidney shut down General body function shut down leading to irreversible shut down leading to death. Yes a puppy needs more as they mature and age. A Yorkie pup should always have a good quality kibble down all the time and the owner has to be sure it is eating not just the food sitting there. Some can be finicky, they can also die if they are not eating. Ask your Vet, talk to your sisters new Vet and give the clinic a heads up. A puppy should never be losing weight. If she is still not willing to feed the puppy what it needs then she dont need to have the puppy, turn her in..Or better yet give us her name and address so we can. Sorry but this is terrible, I feel so sorry for that little puppy. |

PLEASE HAVE your sister read this thread. You asked for help and there already are specific problems listed in the many posts. You said the poor dog is hungry and losing weight. Your sister needs to see the posts here and think about her reasons for having a dog - or maybe just not have a pet at all. That's so mean of her. A yorkie or ANY living thing that is entrusted to US needs to be properly fed. WE ARE THEIR VOICES and what she's doing is just cruel. She's like his Jailer holding back food and that's just wrong. |
OMG I have only had my yorkies a short while. I got Shooter about 2 months ago and Emma yesterday. I am worried they aren't eating enough. This is horrible. You really need to rescue this baby now. |
Shame on her. There is a difference between a naturally small Yorkie and Malnourishment. Someone needs to intervene. This is cruelty and is a crimninal offense. |
your sister needs to have the s*#! kicked out of her, like right now!!! hows that!!!! |
OMG what the heck is wrong with this person? that poor baby. |

What a bit**!!!! I'm sorry, but after she has the s**t kicked out of her I think she needs to have her food restricted for a while also - she how she likes it. |

This is so sad. All the pets out there that are suffering and she is intentionally out of ignorance and stupity abusing her dog. This is the first time reading this thread,.. while I am sitting at my desk at work eating my lunch...I have lost my appetite! Why do people like this have pets at all, they are not fashion accessories  I would have a talk with her, have her meet for lunch..(over lunch, take her plate away after she takes a bite or two and tell her that's all you get, your getting too big!) ..if she doesn't want to listen turn her in to the local Animal Control and call her vet's office and tell them your concerns. She has to eventually take the poor thing in for shots... |
I just saw this thread. Is she Nuts or what. What she'll end up with is a skinny dog with fragile bones and bad coat and no energy. Is that what she wants in a dog? He needs lots of calcium to make his bones strong, and lots of protien to give him a nice coat and calories to give him energy to play. Without proper nutrition his internal organs will suffer, causing him health problems and a shorter life span. He may weigh less but size wise he will be the same. If she has friends with small dogs that don'te eat much, they don't eat much because they are small, not the other way around. |

AWWWWWWW forget that. Just give me her address and I'll go and knock some sense into her. |
Thank you for asking us. I have a lot to say, but I'm going to keep it simple. ask your sister to feed her dog. Tell your sister to feed her dog. If she doesn't feed her dog, could you take it or something? |
