changing food We are thinking about changing our puppy's food from Iams to Nutro natural choice chicken meal, rice and oatmeal. Can anyone tell me if Nutro is good for them? I searched it on here and i couldn't find anything about the chicken kind, just the lamb. Is one better than the other or is it just a different taste? |
Check out this site -- http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...iews/index.php someone else posted it a while back and I find it very good for comparing brands. If you are going to switch I would go for a 5 -6 star food. The Nutro canned brand you mention is only a 3 star. |

Glad to hear you are changing...Iams is not a very good food...I was feeding my girls Nutro Ultra until I read it wasn't that great either...it only got like a 3 star rating..I just recently changed them over to Canidae...I feed them the dry and mix a tiny bit of the canned...alot of members here use Chicken Soup...I tried it and the girls didn't care for it. |
Thanks for your replies! :) I mixed in Nutro with Iams today and he loved the new food! At first he would only eat the Nutro but i eventually got him to eat some of the Iams too cuz i didn't want him to get an upset tummy. I would like to feed him something that is 5 or 6 stars but think all of them are really expensive...probably more than my husband wants to spend on food. I guess we'll just have to stick with Nutro. |

I had switched Bailey from Royal Canin to Nutro lamb and rice and she won't eat it. I have to have her on a wet food for her medicine right now and the nutro wet makes her throw up. So I am back to baby food until tommorow when I go to the store. I am glad you are taking your dog off Iams, there is a web site that claims they do animal testing:www.iamscruelty.com Good luck with the food, it can be trying. |

I am glad too! Chicken Soup is sold only at a few specialty pet stores here in Reno. Here is the link to help find a store near you: http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/ |
