What types of chews are safe? Rawhides? I heard that rawhides are very bad for yorkies but my dogs love them, what is good for them??? |
Alot here use bully sticks. They do seem safer, but with any chew, take them away when they get small. http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...ks/134019.aspx |
Rawhides are very dangerous. They do not digest well and become lodged in the intestines and cause blockage. Many dogs have died from eating rawhides. Porkhide chews are completely digestable and a safer alternative. |
Flossies are safe too |
Where do you get the flossies? My babies love them! But they only last about 15 minutes. The only pet store here that carries them charges $2.59. Which means their flossies are few and far between. But I am not having any luck finding them on the internet either for a reasonable price. |
I got my last ones on ebay. Here are some on the Merrick site http://www.merrickpetcare.com/ |
One of the members here uses rawhides all the time...IMO...I wouldn't...My parents dog nearly chocked to death on one and like one of the posters said...they can get lodged in their intestines or they could choke on them...they get soft and the dog tries to swallow them...also STAY AWAY FROM GREENIES!! These are very dangerous for dogs...many dogs have died from having these lodged in their intestines...Supposedly they are changed their formula to make them 100% digestible but, I just don't trust them...I have just started buying bullies...I buy the pretzel shaped ones...they last a long time. |

Morning Chachi! I bought them at a Pet store not far from me...she is going to opening up a web site but, I don't think she has yet...If you are interested in them I could pick some up for you and mail them to you...they are $3.95 each...I thought that was a bit high but, because of the shape they last a long time. |
My Daisy got a candy cane shaped rawhide in her stocking I ordered for her... sure, she loved it...and it entertained her for a very long time...but I noticed that he next poopie was alittle loose (sorry, I know that's kinda gross - :( ).... Can you get any of the treats you all talk about at petsmart or Petco?? |
Mine get Sams Yams, they are dehydrated sweet potato chews |
Petsmart sells bully sticks. |

I use the pork chews for mine and they love them.... I actually can find them at Walmart by my house... they also last for quite a while, that is unless Laci the lab gets ahold of them... hehe |
Oh goody, I get to do my BullyStick commerical again. I bought mine from ebay. The first shipment was 100 4" bullysticks for $29.97 - with FREE SHIPPING! The furkids went googoo over them and I was so excited that I started sending "samples" out to all of my furkid friends. So I bought ANOTHER shipment from the same person on ebay this time 200 for $59.97 with free shipping. The seller was eddieb260, here is a link to 200 Bully's that are available now: http://cgi.ebay.com/BULLY-BULL-STICK...QQcmdZViewItem  I think I might buy some more. In the freezer they will last FOREVER and I would HATE to run out  . |
