Iams I was wondering if i should switch my baby's food. His breeder gave him Iams so that's what I've been giving him too. I haven't found anything on here about it. Is it not good for him? Also, when should i start giving him his food dry? |
You will get a thousand opinions on food, and most of them will be different. I prefer Nutro, for what it's worth. My pups began eating dry food as soon as they got teeth. |

iams really isn't the best for him.. but it isn't the worst.... i had layla on it... and then someone compared it to feeding her mcdonalds every day... so i switched... we now feed Blue Buffalo... the brand dones't matter... just look for no bi-products and if you can.. no corn.. a lot of pups are allergic to it... you'll notice dry skin usualyl if they are. as far as dry food goes... i'd start as soon as you can.. helps with teeth and poops (which help with the anal glands) but start first by wetting it a bit.. to get him used to it! good luck :) |

Iams isnt the worst food out there but i dont buy it because they do animal testing |
I heard Chicken Soup was good or Fromms was good too :D |
Some good brands are Canidae, Innova, California Natural, Merrick, Artemis, Solid Gold.... There are a lot of good foods - most not available at Petsmart or the grocery store. There's not one best food - your pup may like chicken better than lamb or whatever. Just make sure it has no by-products, no corn.. look for starches like brown rice or potato and make sure meat is the first ingredient. Try to find a locally owned pet supply store - the best brands don't sell to big chain stores. Sometimes trainers can get food too - I get Canidae from Loki's trainer. |
