Question about Merrick Flossies
 
I just bought some Merrick Flossies for my furbaby today. He loves it. He already ate the whole thing. I was just wondering though is this made from the same "beef tendon" as the Bully Sticks? I didn't know what Bully Sticks were until I read it on here and since then I don't give them to him anymore. Plus I don't like the way they smell. So I was just curious if the flossies are the same as bully sticks? I hope not.

Flossies are tendons.

Bully sticks are penis (or peni!)

Texas Toothpicks (which are loved by my boys) are oxtail.

I am not sure -- the Bully sticks I bought say they are made from beef tendons. Some were advertised as bull pizzle/penis but I bought some that just said tendon -- just as the flossies do. Who knows -- the dogs seem to love them and DH was okay as long as it just said tendons.

Flossies are tendons. Chachi and Jewels really like the merricks flossies

I think we are having the same conversation in two threads. :) As I mentioned on the other one -- the Merrick site lists ingredients for BOTH Bully Sticks and Flossies as tendons. So, it might be that the pizzle is also a tendon. They sure look like they are the same.

Well I guess we will never know if they are both from the same "bull tendon". I hope not. All I know is that the flossies don't smell at all so I prefer giving him those over the bully sticks which really stink.

Merrick's flossies are beef tendens and bully's are penis. That's why the flossies don't smell bad like the bully sticks. I love getting Coco Merrick Flossies because she doesn't smell like hot bull penis after :rolleyes:

Are you sure all bully sticks are bull penises though because they are saying on the Merrick site they are listed as tendons. Also I bought some off of ebay and they didnt smell like everyone says they do

I'm pretty sure. Merrick is one of the only brands that uses beef tendon instead of penis, which is why I only buy their brands. They are a little harder to find out here but I still go out of my way to find them as I love that my dog isn't eating a bulls penis..lol

I give Jaxon the flossies ALL the time. I'm the same - can't stand the smell of the bully sticks, even though he likes them.

Is it OK if my furbaby ate the whole flossie in less than an hour? I gave him one today and he finished it in like 20 minutes. I couldn't believe how fast he ate it. He had never eaten it so fast before. He seems fine. I hope he doesn't get a tummy ache.

I wrote to Merricks and they emailed me back that Flossies AND Bully sticks are all made out of the same thing -- bull pizzle (penis). Sorry, but that is what your dog is eating. They just say tendon as that part of the anatomy is a tendon, and it sounds so much better.

Tell the truth, did you ever imagine being in a conversation about bull pizzle much less buying them? Not me -- LOL! No wonder some think we dog-lovers are a little crazy.

OH NO!! I really wish they weren't the same thing. My furbaby loves them but it just grosses me out to think he is eating that. Is there any other product from Merrick that cleans their teeth and is not a "tendon"?

Sorry.... maybe you can just keep thinking of them as tendons. That is what I am going to do. The dogs like them, they are good for them, so I figure I can get used to it.
