puppy with arthritis Just had our 8 mo. old yorkiepoo, Lilly, in for a vet visit after a couple of days of refusing to put her hind paw down. Dr. did x-ray and said her knee caps slip inward (which I'm assuming is the knee conditioned referred to many times in this forum) and the beginning of arthritis. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if arthritis in such a young dog is common? This is our first dog in many years and we are very concerned for her future. Thanks for any feedback! I hope your baby feels better soon. I can't help you but someone surely will when they see this post. Carol & Buddy |
Couple things.... Did your vet said that she actually has arthritis? Did he say that she will get it from her knee problem? Can he do anything about her knee problem? *** And - yes - there are several medicines that our little dogs can take for their joints and for arthritis, if they have it. Check with your vet about these things. Carol Jean |
puppy with arthritis Hi-Yes, the vet said she had arthritis in her hips. He found what is called a "Morgan line" on both of the hip joints, which apparantly is the start of arthritis. Don't know yet if it's related to her slipping kneecaps. Dr. sent x-ray to neurologist and we should get word back early this week. Thanks for your response! Suzy:animal-pa |
My Monty developed arthritis at 3 years old, a bit older than your Lilly. We have had him on Agility for about a year now and it has made a definite difference. He was struggling to get up off the floor before. Now he jumps up and turns in circles when it is treat time. We wish Lilly the best. |
Greeningers -- Be sure and get back to us and let us know what you find out. My husband was a radiologist and I worked in radiology for more than 20 years --- and I have never heard of a Morgan line. In fact, I am still doing some work in Radiology and have about 20 radiology books in front of me - and I can't find that term anywhere. Also - you mentioned that your vet is sending the films to a neurologist - do you mean a "radiologist?" This would make more sense. Anyway - since your dog is so young - be sure and let us know what you eventually find out.....and how things work out. I hoping the best for you. Carol Jean |
Gosh, I hope that it's not too painful for the little one:cry: Have you considered supplementing with Missing Link Plus? It has stuff for the joints, and it's not too expensive (around $13 for an 8 oz bag that will last three months) Good luck and keep us posted:love: |
