Bailey keeps freaking out about her butt... Hello everyone! I was wondering if you could shed some light on this situation. Bailey has had this issue with freaking out and nibbling at her butt all the time ever since I got her. She does it mostly when she gets excited about something like visitors. I can't figure out if she is going for her nubbin tail or what. There isn't any hair missing or anything. I took her to the vet three times about it and they can't figure it out. They keep testing her for parasites and giving her meds just in case, but it doesn't help and they never find anything bad. They also tried expressing her anal glands, but that didn't seem to help either. I wondered if maybe her nubbin bothers her? Is it possible that she is just being obsessive compulsive? She also freaks out when she poops. I keep the hair trimmed around her bottom because it would get tangled in her hair and she absolutely freaks out when that happens and runs around the house like a maniac crying. She obviously isn't in pain or anything. She just has a little piece hanging there and I would always get it right off. She is fine just as soon as I get a tissue and take it off. It's so wierd to me. Has anyone experienced this or have any clue what is going on? Thanks. |
It's so funny that you mention this because Howie has done the same thing -- freaking out while/after pooping. He's only done it twice and I'm wondering if it's because he's constipated. He'll poo a little bit and I think he still has to get some out but he freaks out and squeels and he'll try to chase his butt. The first time it happened I felt really bad beacuse I thought it was my fault (he pooped somewhere else and I tried to move him to the pad). But, he did it again last night. I don't know what it is, but just letting you know Howie does the same thing. Hopefully we'll get more responses! :) |

I am really glad to hear she isn't the only one though! :) |
My Bailey will do that when she passes gas. It is so funny, she will growl and try to bite at her behind. They can be so amusing ........ Michele & Bailey:aimeeyork |
Simon acts like that when he has gas! He just freaks out, I think it might scare him a little. |
Gas? That explains a lot. My Coco freaks out at night , which is when she passes gas. She always tries to bite her tail and keeps growling! I thought maybe she had fleas but I checked and she doesn't. I figured maybe she's dry because I always wash her every time she poops. But her skin is perfectly fine! So I guess she just freaks out when she farts. :D :aimeeyork |

I asked my vet about that earlier this week when I took Bailey in and she says it does scare some small dogs but also it sometimes hurts them and that is why they growl and bite. When Bailey was a small puppy, she would growl and run looking over her shoulder like she was trying to out run her gas:D I try not to laugh but she is too cute..... Michele & Bailey:aimeeyork |
I have a friend that lives in Reno, and she has 2 Chi. The male Peewee has the same problem and when she told me I really did not believe her until now that I'm reading you guys have the same thing going on with your Yorkies...LOL She said that Peewee backs up his butt on a bush and even puts his back leg's on the bush and poops on the bush:confused: ....then takes off running as if the poop was chasing him. One time a small poop got stuck on him and he cried loud as if someone had hurt him, scared the poop out of Rose she thought something had bit him.....but no Peewee just had poop stuck to his butt :D |
