New Diet for Kayla` Hi everyone! I am starting to consider making all of Kayla's foods. She has had diarrhea (sp?) off and on for a few days. I am going to cook her the chicken and rice today and see if that helps. It started to get better yesterday so I scrambled her an egg for her coat. Could this have caused it to come back? I woke up this morning and it was everywhere in her kennel! She is 8 monthds old and weighs just over 3 lbs. She acts fine & eating and drinking fine. What about Pepto...how much could I give her and would that make it go away? I am kind of broke right now and want to try to get her better on my own before I take her to the vet. Another thing...what kind of diet and how much could I start making for her? I am wanting to just start making her food all the time but not sure what to give her for a well balanced diet! |
Hi!! I'm sorry your baby is sick. Its hard to imagine it was the egg, whenever my two get diarrea (sp?) I always give them a boiled egg or scrambled egg. Did you add anything to the egg? I can't help with the diet as i have a very very fussy eater and am having troubles there myself so would be interested in what others come up with. |
I did not add any seasonings to the eggs. I am not sure what to do! |
Ok, maybe you could try a boiled egg and some dry toast. Cut up the toast very small. This works every time for my little girl, normally within a day or two. If it still persist then you really should take her to the vet. Give her some honey or sugar mixed with water to help keep her sugar levels up. |
Anything they are not use to having in their diets can upset the digestive tract so, yes, it could have been the egg. Put her back on the chicken and rice, but if it doesn't clear take in a fecal sample to check for parasites. The risk of diarrhea is dehydration so if she is really going a lot or starts vomiting I would take her in to be safe. As far as feeding a homemade diet you really have to include a lot of ingredients and know what you are doing to make sure you are meeting all of her nutritional needs. It is a lot more complicated then feeding chicken and rice and throwing in some cottage cheese and eggs. Do your research and you will find many very complex "recipes". Here's a good link to start with reading for anyone considering a homemade diet: http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=672 |
Ok, thanks for the advice and input. :) |
eggs Have you ever given her eggs before? Just curious. For what it's worth Mayzie does not tolerate eggs. They make her sick--vomit type sick. |
