Flakes & Dandruff!!! my little snickers has dry skin!!! when i was brushing his hair i noticed dry flakes coming up..i dont know what the problem could be..im wondering maybe its the type of shampoo i use or that i dont get all the soup out when i bath him...i dont know what to do to get rid of the dry skin. does anyone have any suggestions??? does oatmeal shampoo work or anything? |
romeo had the same problem. i switched his food to nutro lamb & rice. he was on royal canin which has corn that can cause skin problems. i also have him on super 5 supplement from wellness. for bathtime we use organic oatmeal. he looks great now. no flakes or dry skin. |
yeahh..i think it might be his food. im feeding him royal canin puppy 33, and it has corn in it, i think im going to switch to natures recipe, it has no wheat, no corn, no perservatives..and it looks like a pretty healthy food looking at the ingredients, and im going to try and switch to an oatmeal based shampoo |
Go Slowly Piper also had dry skin. The vet scraped him to make sure no microorganisms were eating his dead skin, then she had this advice: because of Piper's diet changes (they were quick, not gradual, due to him not eating), and the tearless puppy shampoo we were using, she recommended no more diet changes, a prescribed shampoo, and omega 3 oils you can get at the dog store, once a day. It took about 3 weeks, and he was all better! No problems since. Just be gentle and go slowly! :animal36 |
My son's lab mix had the same problem. She scratched constantly and had white flakes galore. My dad recommended Lanatone (he gets it from Dog.com). In less than a week - scratching and flakes gone, never to return. It's made from fatty acids and some other good stuff. Not only has she not been itchy, her coat shines like crazy. |
