Knee Surgery Last year I took Ruby to the Vet and was told her knees weren't good nad as she got older could get worse but some yorkies can manage. She went for her second yearly check up again on for the knees and the doctor said they were worse. The VET is telling me she'll need surgery. It could cost anywhere from $2000 to $4000. I also purchased her through a breeder. Does anyone no the laws if they are liable for some of the cost if it was genetic? Please help, I don't want to put my dog through surgery if she doesn't need it and pay a million dollars either. :( |
If her legs don't seem to bother her, or cause her pain, then surgery isn't really necessary, imho. My vet told me that Luna's knees are grade 3 on one and 4 on the other one, and that he would only do surgery on her if she was limping or seemed to be in pain from them. Getting a second opinion wouldn't hurt;) |
MIne had sever luxating patella and he got surgery. I'm glad we did it because he was limping. He is good now except I hear a constant click on that knee but it doesn't seem to bother him. Get a second opinion and if its bothering him, get the surgery. My surgery was fully covered because my BF bought Zoe from a pet store and the store covered luxating patella until he is one year old. |
