How Do You Clean the Eye Goopy? Jazzie get's eye goops. I usually just wipe it with a warm damp towel. I've tried eye cleaners but they irritate her eyes. What works for you? |
warm wash cloth with tear free puppy shampoo |
Corrine, I use the same as you. My kids get a lot of "face washes". Be sure if you use a shampoo you will need to rinse. Check out a waterless shampoo. I use it at dog shows for quick clean ups but I'm not sure I've never used it around eyes. I will check the label. |
Toto has to have lots of cleanings too. I put a little warm water in a paper cup and use Q-tips. Wet the goopy and give it a minute and it comes right off with a Q-tip. She patiently sits and waits for me to get her little face all clean .... she doesn't like it on her face either!! :p The waterless shampoo says not to use it around their face .... I only used it on her once to "touch up" between baths. It smells like cleaning fluid so we won't be using that again! Anyone need a bottle?? ;) |
I purchase eye-wipes. You can get them at almost every pet supplies store... or order on-line from Petedge or Petsmart. They won't irritate their eyes and really work well. It is really important to keep theirs eyes clean. It prevents eye infections and other eye problems. The dogs don't mind it at all.:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
It is a fight at my house to hold his head still, it is a 2 man job that is for sure! I hate those goops!! We just use a warm wash cloth |
I use a warm washcloth and then a flea comb to get the rest out. Seems to work fine for me. Adonis loves his "facewash". But he's not real fond of the flea comb, lol. Venus doen't seem to get the eye goop like Adonis does. |
I use cotton balls soaked with sterile saline solution available anywhere with the contact lens supplies. I think this also prevents the goobers turning into a yeast infection. |
I just use cotton ball with warm water. It comes off easily. |
this is what I do and what I tell every yorkie/maltese/etc. owner that comes in for grooming. Buy yourself a small flea comb. Take a warm damp cloth and wet the area around their eyes. Then use the flea comb to comb out the goopiness. Instant clean! :) Just make sure you wet the area before combing the junk out. Doing it without wetting it makes it harder to slide out and that just makes the babies angry. |
thats the same way i do it |
We also use the wipes and the flea comb. It works very well, even if shayna doesnt always enjoy it! |
Dr. Christopher's Herbal Eye Wash. Boil water and put into an eye cup. 2-3 drops. Use a cotton ball and wipe the inside corners. Cleans out the tear ducts and the goop there is there. |
WOW, I am going to try the Saline Solution and now I am going to read up on the Dr. Christophers Herbal Eye Wash stuff... |
What's the smallest flea comb out there? All I can find are big ones locally :( |
