Cow's milk ?
 

Keira doesn't like water very much. She LOVES puppy milk. I was putting a little milk in with her water just to color it a little. She loves that as well. I will be honest tho.... The puppy foruma she was drinking was made ready to drink and you have about 3 days to use it up. She isn't using even half of it. I only need a little to color it. So a TON of the puppy milk is being wasted. She was drinking the water as long as I warmed it. Now she seems to be turning her nose up at that as well. Would it really hurt her to put just enough cows milk in the water to color it??

i let romeo lick the milk in the bottom of my cereal bowl. i've never had a problem. i use low fat organic. i would imagine regular milk could have hormones or pesticides that could hurt a yorkie.

We normally drink 2% milk. I am only talking about using just enough to make the water look colored. She doesn't seem to know the difference. LOL I have wanted to try the organic milk. Does it taste any different than regualr milk?

I'd like to know it, too.

organic tastes exactly the same. the only difference is no pus, blood, pesticides or dangerous hormones. give it a try. regular milk is gross and dangerous. i buy mine at sam's club every week.:thumbup:

Katy loves milk. My husband started it. He let her lick his cup when he was done. Now she can wake up from a sound sleep if she hears him open the milk carton. He tries to be sneaky and not let her know he is getting milk, but she always knows. (She always only gets a sip)

hmm i thought we should never give dogs human milk as they are allergic to the lactose??

I hate to bring an older thread up like this. :) I have been giving Summerlin about a tablespoon of cow's milk mixed with her science diet chicken and rice canned puppy food. This is what she has been eating for the past week. I started adding the milk because she seemed to be having a hard time going poop, so I thought adding some liquid to her food would help that. This morning, she had two soft poops - the norm for her - and one small poop that was softer than usual, and had some clear mucus with flecks of blood in it. :( The blood wasn't in the poop itself, it was in the mucus with the poop. My question is this: Is the mucus and blood because of the milk in her food? When I got this girl, she was in pretty bad shape, the owner had given Summerlin to her stepdaughter at 6 weeks, went to visit her step daughter weekend before last and realized that the baby wasn't being cared for properly. So for three weeks she was with a less than stellar caretaker. I knew that she had some problems, but I thought it would be mostly emotional and visual - you know, fleas, matted hair, etc. Does anyone have any idea what to do about the mucus with flecks of blood? Thanks...

Yes, dogs are lactose intolerant. I would encourage one to drink plain water. They'll drink what they need and no more.;)
