a little ticked with my vet! Layla went to the vet about 3 weeks ago to have 4 baby teeth pulled that did not come out when the big ones came in... well last week i noticed she still has another baby tooth!! it was not one of the ones schedualed for removal... but being that i am not an expert on dog teeth.. i didn't know it was a baby.. and i can't figure out why the vet didn't take it out??? it is having problems coming out... a bit wiggly, but the adult isn't coming in directly under it. if it doen'st come out on its own.. does she have to go under AGAIN? or because it is wiggly is there another way to get it out??? |
I guess I'd be ticked too. did you ask your vet why he didn't remove that one? |
if it is a little loose .. could be they were trying to save you that little bit of money. I would ask them. |
I would be ticked to they should of removed it. |
i haven't been back yet... layla gets very stressed out there... i should call and ask what they think. i wish they would have given me the option to say yes or no to wanting it out... i can't wait till we are done with teeth!!! now it's just trying to get her used to the idea of brushing them  |
Maybe you could give her something hard to chew on so it falls out on its own. I wouldn't want to put her back under if it was my pup. |
I gave Lexie a pedigree dental bone which she lost both her top canine teeth on...I was so happy cause I didn't want to put her under...I would try to give her something hard to chew on and would try to wiggle it as much as you can(not easy to do)...Hope this helps some....:) |
I agree. If it is wiggly, give her something hard to chew on and it will probably fall out on its own. Maybe your vet didn't want to pull any teeth that didn't have an adult tooth already coming in behind it. |
So I was in a similar situation as you except the tooth was NOT wiggly AT ALL. Tough as nails, I thought I would have to get it pulled. THen my friend suggested I get one of her rope toys (the ones with the knots on the ends) and play tug of war with her. I started playing tug of war, giving her hard treats and within two days it was wiggly and by the third it fell into my hand. I was so excited I kept it  |
thanks everyone! the problem with this little tooth is... it is on the bottom.. one of those teeny ones... but it has been pushed to the front of her mouth.. and i dont' think it is even effected when she chews... we play tug of war.... and when i brush her teeth i make sure i give it a few swipes... it is placed very oddly... to better discribe it... it only wiggles forward.. not back.. because it seems only the back part of the tooth is attached... this again because it has been pushed forwards in her mouth.. she is NOT a fan of having my fingers in there.. but i'm doing my best to get that little sucker out!! thanks for the suggestions... keep them coming! |

Good advices everyone but some teeth have very long roots and that may cause a problem. |
