Surgery Question I am having Max neutered soon and thought that most vets recommend getting bloodwork beforehand. My vet, however, said that because he is so young, its not necessary. Should I insist on having the bloodwork done? Max is my first dog, and I just want to make sure I do everything right. Thanks, Matt |
surgery I have never had blood work done on a young dog for spay/neuter...unless there was a question of his health and there does not seem to be one. |
Thanks, I just wanted to be sure :) -Matt |
That's odd - the biggest problem with anesthesia is liver abnormalities which usually don't show up in young pups even if they do have a liver shunt. My vet makes you sign a waiver if you refuse the preop blood tests. |
