eye problem Does anyone know anything about entopion its where the eyelid turn inward I took my puppy to the vet he had red around his eyes she says he needs surgery I am so worried he is just 4 months old |
I am sorry I have never heard of this. I will keep your little guy in my prayers that his surgery goes smoothly |
sorry I spelled that wrong it is called entropion |
My girlfriends Cavalier had that this past winter. I went with her to the vet and they did the surgery that day and we went back in 4 hours and picked her up. She was fine afterwards and has had no further problems. She did have the surgery done by an eye specialist and it cost about 800.00. I will keep your baby in my prayers for a safe surgery. |
Thanks I am really nervous about this I have never had a dog to have any problems just had to take them to the vet for shots and check up this really make me nervous please pray for my baby |
eyes I am so sorry...but it is correctable I am told..and painful if not done, vet said it is like having sand in your eyes all the time. Good Luck |
An entropian is when eye lid turns inward and causes the eyelashes to rub the eye. That is where the irritation comes from. The doc usually just removes the eyelashes that cause the problem. I hope your baby feels better. |

Have you contacted the breeder? This is a hereditary condition and you might have a guarantee that covers it. Entropion is corrected surgically. If possible it is best to delay surgery until the dog is an adult since the involved facial structures are still growing and changing. More than 1 operation may be required. It is better to correct the entropion conservatively and repeat the operation later if necessary, than to overcorrect causing ectropion. |
good news I took my puppy to another vet for a second advise he looked at my puppy eyes and took him in the dark room to look and he said that his eyes was just irratted gave him some cream with steriods and antibotics in it and they are clearing up he said it was very rare that a yorkie would have entropion and he did not think that was his problem take him back Thursday to let him recheck them I am so happy he dont have that and no surgrey Thanks for your kind words and prayers Donna |
