After a year of on and off stomach problems with Magic, our vet has switched her to Purina's Prescription Food DCO (for diabetes & colitis) and it is working great!! We have talked with others at this vet's office that he switched to this food as a last resort and they are also not longer having problems...in fact one said it had been a year since her pup had a bad spell! Prior to that we were using a lamb & rice foor by Nutro - as we were told that chicken, corn & wheat were causing Magic's problems. But we also give Magic a little yogurt (1/2 teaspoon) every other day to keep some good bacteria in her digestive track...and that also seems to be helping. (We have tried both more and less yogurt...but this is the amount that works best for her.) |
Gracie eats Royal Canin IVD Venison and Potato for her colitis. So far so good on it and she loves it! Perhaps you can ask your vet about this and the food that Miss Magic mentioned. I have found that for the sensitive tummy it is best to stick to the perscription diets. They are more expensive but save lots of money in the long run. Good Luck. |
After a vet visit today, my Yorkie is on medication for 7 days and Purina Vets Diet EN, the wet. It's not a hit, had to mix with boiled chicken. I hope this is temporary. Jessica |
I use California Natural Chicken & Rice.... its a simple not compex formula so it is easy to digest.. |
Good food You should watch the video: "Truth About Pet Food" before deciding on a food. If you want a top quality food that is delivered fresh try Life's Abundance. |
I was told yesterday that Eagle Pack Holistic lamb and rice was very good for sensitive stomachs. Jessica |
Use a food with limited ingredients - basics like chicken and lamb - or if it's an allergy problem you need to find out what the allergy is. The California Natural one is great. Other fantastic brands are Canidae, Wellness, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick. Just don't pick anything with corn or any by-products. Loki used to have a VERY sensitive stomach and he has done extremely well on Canidae. But every dog is different. |
