Applying olive oil on dry skin yorkie I was reading a few thread about olive oil being fed to our babies but I was thinking could we actually apply the olive oil directly on their skin like baby's oil on human's skin? That will help ease the itch wouldn't it? Anyone here does it? |
maybe change the food your feeding your puppy.. |
I have never heard of putting Olive Oil directly on their skin. People DO put Emu Oil directly on their skin. Do a Search for Emu Oil and you will find lots of good info on it. I mix the Emu Oil with water and spritz it on after their bath before I dry them with the hairdryer. If you are feeding your puppy a food that has corn or wheat products in it, your puppy is most likely allergic to the food. Try changing to a different food with no corn or what products and his dry skin will most likely go away. |
right on rebecca i couldnt have said it better.. |
He is on Innova Puppy Dry right now and his coat is looking very good. Innova is a good food and I am not sure if I want to change it. I would try the EMU oil. |

dry skin Try a good shampoo and rinse designed for dry, sensitive skin..but go light on any oil to the skin. You would think it would hydrate the skin, but what it can do is dry it out even more because it clogs the pores and NO natural oil gets to the skin...good luck |
we use super 5 supplement from wellness for dry/itchy skin. it works wonders. it's all natural. |
Olive oil?! how would you ever wash that off? |
I think putting oil on the coat is more to give the coat shine than to help dry skin. I use plush puppy seabreeze oil |
I never heard about olive oil on the skin. I use Missink Link. |
