Snookums is 2 1/2 years old and the past few months....she has been licking....someone told me it could be the salt on our skin...i'm not sure though....she licks arms, legs, fingers, hands...everything....I sure would like to find out why...as she has just started doing this the past few months...if you find out anything, please let me know...thank you |
Little Bit is a licker too and it gets very annoying after a while. I would also like to know the solution.:) |
coco-ming just got spayed about two weeks ago, and has been licking between her legs (not the incision area) constantly. Should I be concerned? |
All my yorkies have been like this All three of my Yorkies have licked our hands feets, face etc. We were told it could be the salt, but I am not sure. We have just accepted it as part of their character. I can understand some may find it annoying after a time. We distract them after a while with a toy and a game and that usually works. As to why they do it .. who knows .... anyone ?????? |
In the dog training class that I am enrolled in, the instructor told us that a lot of licking (humans) was an attention seeking behavior and that it's not acceptable. She suggested that everytime they begin to lick you, you practice 'down stays' with the dog... Just a suggestion. |
I have never heard of licking being attention seeking behaviour has anyone else. It has never worried me to be honest. Did the trainer tell you why they feel it is classed as this type of behaviour ? |
Licking Paws My yorkies lick their paws a lot also. My vet says it's allergies to the grass outside. I was told to give them CHILDRENS Benadryl when they start this. If you use the liquid, use only half a tsp. twice a day...if it's the chewable kind, only half the tablet, twice a day. It usually does the trick!!! But it may take a couple of days to get into the system for you to tell. I was spending a fortune at the vets for the same medicine, when she finally told me to just go buy the Childrens Benadryl!!! It does the same thing as what she was giving me. |
