Sorry but castration is not for my dog...my vet agrees, he said "if it aint broke don't fix it". If you're removing a dogs testicles because he MIGHT get cancer, then you might as well remove other things because there's always a risk of them developing cancer in another body part. |
sorry don't know why my post came up twice...lol |
I would for the simple fact that you don't want your dog accidently impregnating another...accidents can happen especially if you dog is not fixed and looking for it! :D I would worry more that my dogs would try to get out of the yard to go find a girlfriend because the urge is calling |

I just wanted to let you know that just because a dog is unuetered does NOT mean that he will definitly mark, hump, or roam. Also, I'm assuming your refering to his penis as "lipstick?" One of my dogs wasn't nuetered until after a year because he was going to be used for stud. He only humped once when he was a puppy, never did it again. He never had a spraying problem, or a roaming problem. Rocky also isn't nuetered YET, and yes he does hump, but I know of other little dogs who are nuetered and still hump. Rocky does not pee all over my house either. He pees a lot when we go on walks, but definitly not in my house. And as for the penis issue, I asked the vet specifically if nuetering him will prevent it from coming out, and she said it doesn't. Think of it as if a guy gets a vasectomy. He will still get errect, but theres no sperm. Please don't say that "your dog WILL do this if he's not nuetered", because it's not always true. Yeah those are the common problems with unneutered pets, but not all :) |

A subject of castration who is castrated before the onset of puberty will retain a high voice, slight build and small genitals. The person may not develop pubic hair and will have a small sex drive or none at all. Castrations after the onset of puberty will typically reduce the sex drive considerably or eliminate it altogether. The voice does not change. Some castrates report mood changes, such as a more serene outlook on life. Body strength and muscle mass can decrease somewhat. Body hair sometimes may decrease. Castration prevents male pattern baldness. Without Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), typical symptoms similar to those experienced by menopausal women include hot flashes, potential weight gain or redistribution of body fat to the hips/chest. Gynocomastia, or the development of breast tissue, may also occur sometimes. None of these consequences are threatening. Women are "castrated" all the time through hysterectomy and HRT is not mandatory after a hysterectomy. |

Not one of the reasons for having my dog neutered was because it was more convenient for me. I respect your beliefs, please respect mine. |
www.neutering.org... its a good website that has some good info on it.. a little radical and over the top maybe.. but still i think he has a good general idea of why its not always good to neuter. i hope to not anger you by voicing my opinion.. i respect yours and all of those who decide on their dog's health choices..but i think that the people who do things naturally and approach lives of animals and their families lives with a different approach than medical doctors, medications, and surgeries should be respected as well. anyone can find information to prove something right.. we have the internet..it says everything from any angle about everything..i believe that people's gut feeling about something is usually correct.. and mine is to not take away organs from my puppy that arent killing him. if anyone wants info about why not to neuter.. ill be happy to share what i have and to lead you to information so that you can make your own decision, not the one that everyone else tells you is right. |
We've been down this road before. ;) That website is more than over the top...you might want to take a closer look. |

the statement was not targeted at you ... it does not say "everyone who gets their dogs neutered are doing for personal convience reasons".. it says that for the fact of no marking, humping things, ect.... i think is selfish. if people are allowed to talk all the way to the moon about why not neutering is wrong and is irresponsible.. then i certainly can and will say why i think its not ok to neuter. |
