Lump at Site of Vaccine Injection Hello, I picked Diesel up this morning and he started yelping. My husband starting rubbing him because we knew he would be sore from his shot last night. My husband found about a 2 inch in diameter lump at the site of his injection. Is this normal? As soon as you touch it he yelps. |
I'm not sure if the yelping is normal, but Tia also got a lump on the injection site. It went away in a day or so. |
I have also experienced this with my Yorkie. I don't believe she felt pain in the area, but the lumps did so away. Sometimes it takes a few weeks. :aimeeyork |
Alex had a lump and made yelping or whining noises after his injection. I panicked and called the vet. They said it was normal, but if it didn't get better after a couple of weeks then he needed to be taken in. |
Thanks everyone for responding. My vet opened up at 9:00 and I called and they said the same thing. They told me if the lump didnt start going down in a few days to bring him in. He is much more content right now, my husband came home from work and Diesel is curled up in between his legs and they are both sleeping. |
lump After the next injection, rub the area for a few minutes..that usually works to prevent a lump. Pain most often comes from lepto vaccine which most vets do not use due to bad reactions in toy dogs. |
