Pet insurance Hi all... Does anyone here use pet insurance..if so what kind? My husband and I are thinking about buying pet insurance for Daisy and my cat. I was reading about VPI insurance..if anyone has this one, is it any good? thanks in advance for all the help!:cheer: |
I have VIP. I just took Buddy to the vet last month due to diahrea and the bill was $127.00. I had a $50.00 deductable and they paid $57.00. I thought that was good. I have the superior plan that does not include visits, shots or flea and heartworm meds. Hope that helps you. Carol |
I have VPI for Diamond but honestly, I feel like I am paying MORE for the insurance as opposed to getting MORE money back from VPI. I have the Routine Care plus something else...I can't remember now. I got Diamond spayed and it was around $200 and I only got about $50 or $70 back...which isn't much! I think I am paying close to $30/month for it. |
Do you have the pay all the cost up front then the insurance Co. reimburses you? |

I have VPI insurance also and like it. As for paying up front I do, sure some vet will bill them. I got the wellness plan for a $1.00 more a month helps pay for there yearly shots and check ups. I have had no emergency (thank God) but if there ever is one I'm covered. |
I have VPI for Cali and have had major expenses with her and they have helped out. Some of her illnesses were preexisting and not covered. The way I look at it is I get it for major expenses. I oay 23.00 a month for the SUperior plan with no routine. A lot od Cali's expenses are around 50.00 so they don't exceed the deductible. |

I had VPI for the last year and I felt I I did not get back enought to justify getting it again. Here is a story. When I got Chewy, he was delivered via air plane to me and got sick from the move and developed some problems. I had enrolled in VPI several days before he arrived and when he was ill I didn't fear about the vet bills, but little did I know that VPI waits 3 weeks before starting coverage. So I spent about $700 in vet bills the first week I got Chewy and $300 for insurance. VPI did not cover one cent. In the last 11 months I think I spent about another $750 in various vet bills and got less than $200 in returned from VPI |
I checked out pet insurance yesterday..(I was on the petco site) it would be $74.00 a month (I have to furbabies) That's kind of expensive...especially where I'm not working right now.. |

the first time I went to my vet, they had some kind of flyers on the window, I believe it was promo from Iams, that they'll cover up your first payment ( I think over $50) if you sign up with VPI . but it was too late for us BC I already paid for my insurance. but it might be worth it for you if you are still thinking about buing it. |
