Having feeding problems I just got a new yorkie, she is 22 months old and i'm not real sure of what she has been through (from her previous owner) she appeared healthy when I got her the lady did't tell me what she fed her and she will not awnser her phone when i call. I feed chicken soup for puppies to my other yorkies, i've seen her eat but she has lost alot of weight,i went and bought some merrick wet food to mix with the chicken soup she isn't eating much and i am afraid she is already too thin. what should i try next? |
Have you taken your new baby to the vet to be checked out throughly?? |
yes....have her checked for worms. If she's eating, and still not gaining....not a good sign. |
You may have to force feed her If she doesn't eat. Sorry to say,but hey you could save her life. |
Try mixing cottage cheese, scrambled egg or baby food in with her food. If she is losing weight she also needs to be seen by a Vet in case there is something more wrong with her |
I agree she needs to be seen by a vet. The vet may suggest some supplemental feeds with something like kitten formula or NutriCal to get some extra calories in. |
After the trip to the vet, try another dry food (mixed with some of the above goodies). Sometimes they just don't like a particular food. There are many good foods out there. |
I have an appointment today to take her,she is just all around different than my others, she was supposedly inside with a doggie door but she is easily spooked, she is starting to warm up,maybe she was too scared to eat,I personally think she was a kennel dog. she had too many red flags.I'll post later to update thanks guys!!! anyone from knoxville area? maybe you have heard of her breeder, and i can kinda get a guess at what she has been through. her name is Misti irwin actually this is the lady i bought her from (she was an aparent breeder also) the breeder was susan watson, misti is from norris tn |
She probably is just adjusting to her new homee. When i got Silk she ate well but didn't drink for about a weeek. I gave her wateer from a syringe eevery couple of hours. Also, try boiling a chicken breast and give it to her . |
