Drooling, is it ok? OK, I'm getting a little worried about Meeko lately. He threw up twice this week. Once, I found it in his crate, foamy and yellow. Then one morning, he threw up again and it had a piece of carrot from the night before in it. BUT NOW, all of a sudden, he is DROOLING while sleeping. ???? I have never heard of a dog drooling in his sleep before. (My cat drools, little drips, when you pet her. But only if she wants you to be petting her.) Last night Meeko had laid with his daddy on the sofa for about a half hour sleeping. When he got up, Frank's shirt was soaked from Meeko drooling on him. ???? What the.... If anyone elses yorkies does this, PLEASE let me know. Or if anyone knows WHY he is doing this, I could use the piece of mind. Since all this has happened just this last week, I am worried there might be something wrong. I am debating a vet visit. |

I wouldn't debate visiting. If I ever had a concern, I went to the vet. I've never seen that happen in my life. I would be concerned, but I don't know if it would be something wrong or not. It isn't normal. That's for sure. Good luck and let us know if you learn anything new. |

The only time we encountered this with Toto was when she was teething. We actually had to use "dribble" cloths!! Hope it's nothing serious and little Meeko will be fine! ;) Please keep us updated. |

Ok, so I called the vet. She asked me a few questions. Then she said it sounds like he got something that upset his tummy. She told me to give him 1/4 of a tagiment 200 mg. tablet twice daily for 2 or 3 days to calm his stomach and no food for 24 hours. I thought really hard about what he could have eatten. I have given him the same food for a year and he only gets carrots as treats, with an occassional greenie treat. BUT THEN I REMEMBERED something that might have caused his tummy troubles. Sometimes when I give the cat her treats, he runs and gets it before she has a chance to eat it. I had given them their treats about three or four days ago. He got a few of hers. So maybe going without food today and giving him the Tagiment will straight this out. I will keep you posted. |

Did everything I was told, and now Meeko is dry! No more drooling. Whew! I am so relieved. Thanks to a great vet, who gave me all I needed over the phone. :) |

Drooling can be a sign of nausea, but it is also a symptom listed under liver shunts. |
