Apple cider vinegar, how much?? I have been reading a lot of good info on Apple cider vinegar and was wondering how much of it I should add to her food? She is only 2 lbs, I was thinking maybe 1/4 tsp? I read that a large dog can have 1 TBS and a small dog 1tsp, but what about a tiny baby? |

I have been trying the acv for the past three days and my dogs won't hardly drink their water now. whiskey will and she's going on five months...sweet pea is going on four years and harley is almost two....those two just look at the water and take baby sips. I am only using two caps full in each bowl,,,,should I use less or what?:confused: |
I've heard of white vinegar baths, but I would be afraid to give it internally to a small yorkie. I would talk to a vet. |

Use only organic ACV and only in food, not water Hi guys, I've been using ACV since the beginning of the summer to discourage fleas and for the other healthy benefits. Only use organice ACV with the "mother" in it, like Bragg's. Start with only a few drops of it on the food for each meal. The odor is very potent, and most babies do not like it. I feel you should not put it in water, because our babies should always have access to clear, clean, fresh water, and let it not be made unpalatable; they need to drink, and they need to rely on us for the water supply. I'm up to 6 drops per meal, and I put it in a small amount of wet food and put the kibbles over it. You can also make a spray of it to ward of fleas and other insects. First dilute it 1 part ACV to 3 parts water, and gradually to half and half. If the smell is too strong, you can use distilled white vinegar as a spray only, not to ingest. A part means...say you measure 1 cup of ACV, then you would use 3 cups water and mix them together. If you want to mix a small amount...1 tsp ACV and 3 tsp water. Hope I didn't confuse you! |
I've never even heard of this before, but I find it very interesting. I guess I'll ask the vet first anyway about the pros and cons of acv. I'm curious to see what he'll say. |
well i poured out their acv water and gave them fresh and then put three drops in their food with missing link mixed up in it and now they won't eat their food!!!BRB...going to check and see if they have nibbled yet.....well la dee da!!!whiskey ate all of hers and harley ate half of hers...sweet pea is still sleeping so now I have to get the cats out of the dog food bowls:rolleyes: I sprayed Pudge down with it yesterday and he rolled in the grass for thirty minutes....i have him on heart worm meds and have tried all types of sprays but the skeeties keep biting him...poor baby....maybe the acv spray will help. |
I use ACV as an after bath rinse for all my pups. It makes their hair soft and smells really fresh. My Cairn had skin irritations and the ACV has cleared that up. I also steamclean my carpets monthly with ACV/Water mixture, clean the bird cages with it, pore it in the tolets to remove any stains and put it in the white's when washing clothes. There are so many uses for it and the smell only hangs around for a bit. My husband always says the house and pups smells so fresh, so it must be good.....:) |

Can you take it yourself? and what does it do for you? i mop my floors with white vinegar water and I have a bottle of it I spray on puppy accidents. I sprayed some more acv water on Pudge today and hard to believe but his bo-bos from skeetie bites are healing up already. So thanks for the tips!!!:D :D :D |
I don't use White Vinegar as I don't think it cleans as well. I don't take it myself nor do I give it to my dogs. However, when I have rescued a small bird (finch type) I would put a drop or two in their water daily as it is an antibacterial agent as well. When my pups get smelly between baths, I wet a papertowel with ACV and wipe them down, freshens them right up. |
Hi yougetthesmiles A part is any amount you want it to be. For example, if you want to fill an 8oz spray bottle, you would use 2 oz of ACV and 6oz of water. If your babies find it agreeable, make your next bottle half and half, 4oz of each. |
I am a faith ful user of apple cider vinegar, for my babies, and would swear by it! I have a 2 litre jug of water for the dogs and put 3 capfuls in there and i have tasted it my self and can not taste it, the dogs will not drink water with out it, now i do change the water very often and disifect the water bottle often, but you will find the water dishes are not scummy either, it really does work........... |
do i rinse her with the acv water before or after her conditioner? it's kind of strong-smelling to me but i may be just used to the white vinegar smell but i do like her to smell girly smelling and not like a pickle-will the smell wear off after a few minutes??? |

You can douche with Apple cider vinegar and clear up yeast infections. We put 1 capful in the 3 gallon waterer for our chickens. It helps with mites and other crawlies, and helps clear up any poop issues. |
50/50 vinegar and water in a spray bottle and rub it into the skin, you can add a capful to their water bowl, it actually helps with eye tearing as well as aids with urinary issues, digestion, can deter fleas and mozzies. Also can be used topical on cuts and abrasions. My dog scratched himself raw a few years back and I cleaned it with ACV from Bragg and within two days it healed. |

It's very helpful for urinary tract infections too. Giving our dog acv every day has been the only medicine that has cleared it up. He was on antibiotics two times in a row and it kept coming back until we started giving him acv every day in his food. Now he's much happier and so are we! |
