K-9 Teeth Hi. I brought Layla to the vet on Wednesday to get her stiches out from her spaying and the vet was very surprised to see that her K-9 teeth had not fallen out (the vet where i am living for the summer.. not the one who did her spaying) he thought she was about 5 months old instead of 6 since they were still in. i look in her mouth every day and her adult K-9's haven't grown in yet.. but is this rare for her to still have them.. they arent even wiggly and he seemed almost shocked to see that they were still in. |
Your Vet doesn't know much about toy breeds of dogs. At that age, sometimes you only see some second teeth erupting. Now that she is spayed wait until she is about a year old but watch for crowding. They don't always lose their baby teeth and will crowd teeth with the second ones coming in too. If that happens you would have to have her put under again for them to pull the baby teeth. If they aren't crowding with some baby teeth coming out on their own, you can wait until she is about a year old then have any retained ones removed. On occasion, a Yorkie will lose all their teeth on their own, but I have seen more that don't in particular the canine teeth. |
