Infection! I've had my Yorkie 3 days. He's 8 weeks, Weighs 2.2LBS. I went to the vet today. I had noticed some dark spots around his penis area. The doctor told me it was an infection from urniation, or urine scald. Does anyone know anything about this? Could it be that the Breeder did not clean him regularly. The vet said i should wash the area 4X a day. Amanda |
Oh My! I have never had experience with that but I have noticed Hallie has a spot around her area and I don't know what it is. Could you describe the spots more? Thanks..... |
sorry Amanda, no help here. I've never heard of that. My baby is a girl, and never had that problem, (though she has had a few problems). What did the vet say to do for that. Jeanne |

does he have lots of hair hanging? I've heard some people say to keep the hair trimmed and some say leave it so it works like a straw for the pee to hit the ground.. i personally think its better to trim... |

My boy has the black spots around his area too. They started out as tiny white skin tag looking bumps which changed to blackhead like areas because of his constant licking. My vet said to use neosporin plus and to wash the area several times and to make sure he is not licking the area. She said licking the infected area causes bacteria to spread through the skin by mixing saliva with the bacteria. The spots remain on him so I am not sure this is working very well but he has stopped licking because of the neosporin plus. I hope this is helpful! :c) |
My Miko got urine burn when he was hospitalized back in April because he was on a urinary catheter and I guess maybe some of it leaked and he got urine burn...My vet had me put desitin on it when we took him home. You might want to ask your vet if that would be okay. Make sure your vet says it's okay to do that first though. Hope this helps. |
