Mia is getting spayed TODAY Right now she is taking a nap right next to me on the sofa, and even though I've been telling myself that she will be just fine for the past week, I am starting to get anxious about the whole process. She is just over 4 months, and she is about 5 lbs, so she is not at high risk like the teeny-tinies are, but she is still sooo tiny compared to other breed pups. I am afraid something will go wrong. I asked the vet about anesthetics, and they use Isoflourine, which I think is the one they should use with Yorkies. We are scheduled to drop her off at 2:00, and depending on how she does after the surgery she may or may not stay overnight. The vet said that if she is acting fine and eating well, they will send her home. If not, she will stay overnight. The vet is open till midnight on weekdays, so I might just go over there to hold her paw for a while if she ends up staying overnight. There have been some unfortunate clouds lurking around my family lately, and I really cannot handle another tragedy at the moment. I hope all will go well, and my babygirl will give me a ton of kisses when I pick her up. Please send good thoughts, or include Mia in your prayers if you do pray. Thank you for reading my concerns. Sharing makes it easier to bear. |
Mia will be in my thoughts and prayers . I am sure , she will be ok . I really understand your fear about the surgery . I am a vet assistant and yesterday we had 2 very tiny chihuahuas to spay and they were extremely ok after the surgery . |
I remember the anxiety when Buddy was nutered. It's natural of course to worry. Best wishes to you both and I am sure your baby will be fine. Keep us posted. |
*sending a hug* layla got spayed yesterday.. she is 5 1/2 months and not quite 3 lbs. I was very very nervous.. i cried when i left her.. lol.. i picked her up at 6... she was very very groggy... but she managed to eat quite a bit... the toughest part was she wasn't able to tell me when she had to go outside... so i took her out every few hours.. you'll probably have to hold her up because even today layla isn't too strong. My vet ddin't send me home with pain meds... which i'm glad because it will keep her still and i think the drugs are starting to wear off because she is breathing kinda heavy and crying... breaking my heart! but your pup will do great! just gotta give her tons of TLC.. like that is hard :P let us know how it goes~ |
I know it is so stressful to go through. You will be so relieved when it's over with. I will keep good thoughts for Mia and a safe surgery. |
