Caro Syrup or Nutrical I have a tiny 4 month old yorkie. She has been eating very well. My question is as she continues to grow should I still feed her Nutrical or add some caro syrup to her dry food? |
I don't really know but I did read somewhere to keep giving it until they were about 3#. My 4 month old puppy is 2# and I give it to her sort of irregularly. If she seems tired or I know I'll be out for a while or just because I think about it. The breeder did tell me not to rely on it too heavily or they might not eat their food. She does eat but it is just one kibble at a time taken to her bed & then back for another one when that one is gone. Good luck!:) |
one of my little girls was stuck around 2# and I gave her a bit of the Nutracal each day. She wasn't so much a fussy eater as slow to get started. Once she had a bit of the syrup - she got going. She is now just over 3# and I have backed off to giving it to her as needed - meaning if she eats lighter than normal or if we have been out and she hasn't eaten or snacked in a bit. I try not to use it as much and prefer to treat her with Natural Balance as a reward between meals. Kinda win-win between the training and the blood sugar! J |
Nyx is not a fussy eater, she eats whatever you put down and she is only 1lbs 7oz. I was told because of her size I should give her nutrical daily and caro syrup in her food. But I always believed that was only for fussy eaters. I haven't had any hypoglycemic episodes either. |
I guess I would do whatever my vet told me but it seems to me that if you give har a tad of nutrical once a day, you wouldn't need the kayro in the food. Seems like overkill. I never gave nutrical unless mine weren't eating. |
