Rawhide's? Hi everyone, My puppy loves rawhide sticks. She chews on them like crazy I think because she is teething but I'm wondering is there a limit on how many she should be getting. Will they hurt her if she has too many? Thanks, Brande |
There are concerns with rawhide getting stuck in the throat or expanding...others here know more about that. You might want to look into getting bully sticks, hooves, or Merrick's Flossies. |

how old is your puppy? Most vets will tell you that rawhide is too harsh on a pups stomach and can easily upset it and well as rawhide can chunk off and cause choking problems. I actually recommend bully sticks, or Booda cornstarch bimples. they crumble and are fully digestable and are NOT harsh on the stomach. hope this helps. |
Also rawhides are very fatty. you dog should only be getting one a week if that |
I, personally, allow Baby to eat rawhide (Dingos). She's 10 lbs and 10 months old. But I watch her like a hawk. :) |
Thanks for the replies everyone...Roxy is 4 months old...she loves them and I deff. think she is getting too many. I'll try to limit them to one a week. She digest them fine but if their fatty I don't really want her to have so many. I always watch her with them I just don't want to deprive her totally of them since she does love them so much...I'd feel bad. |

Petsmart. They're usually next to the toys or next to the rawhides. They are wonderful and tigger goes nuts for them. |

Bully sticks are fantastic, or, if you want something that's odourless but your dog will LOVE - try Texas Toothpicks! Oscar and Ruthie LOVE em! What about Nylabones for your pup to chew on? |
I'm going to go to Petsmart tomorrow and get some of the Booda whatchamacallits. My Misha is 11 weeks old and they sound like they would be good for her. |
Make sure to get the smallest one. Best of luck. Most dogs favorite flavor is the dark brown I believe it's roast ribs. |
