Need Opinions: Compare Two Spay Pics 2 Attachment(s) Baby got spayed 4 months ago. She was about 6-7lbs. We asked the vet for laser surgery, and that is what he said he did. Zoie (my aunt's Yorkie) got spayed two weeks ago. She's 5lbs. She went to a different vet and asked for laser surgery, and that's what he said he did. Now, I attached the pics. Why the heck is Baby's incision so long? And she had like 10 staples in her. Zoie's is not even an inch long and she has like, two stitches! My mother doesn't think that's normal. She thinks maybe my vet didn't use laser on Baby, but the scalpel. What do you guys think? What did your furbaby's stitches look like after a spay? |
I haven't had lexie spayed yet, but just looking at the pics I would say that Baby had it the old fashion way, why would they cut her so much for laser...I'm sure others on YT will know..sorry I can't help...:) |
Good question. Mine is not spayed so I don't have any idea, but it sure does seem odd to have that large of an incision. |
When mine was spayed she had it the old fashioned way & the incision was longer like Baby's. She had stitches though not staples. Maybe you could call up to your vets office & ask about the difference in the two & ask if the incision will be big or small & see what they say. If they say really tiny for a laser surgery then I think you have your answer!;) |
wow that is a huge incision on baby. when my lab was spayed it wasnt near that long and she had stiches, not staples! hmmm, i dont think she had laser |
Dezi was spayed about 4 weeks (not laser) and her incision was as big as your aunt's baby. I was a litte upset because even though I knew they were not doing laser, I did not think the incision would be so big, but the vet told me after a couple of weeks you will not see any scar on Dezi. She had stiches, not staples. It looks like they did not do laser surgery. Dezi's healed really well and you can't even tell she had surgery. |
1 Attachment(s) ok, I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure that Baby did not get laser surgery. Not that its a bad thing but laser surgeries are more expensive than regular so I would get my money back and switch a vet if you find out for sure that it was not laser. The incision does seem long but when I got Zoe neutered his cut was long as well. Let me show you a pic. He got it regularly done. |
Wow !!!!!!!!!! Big differences!!!!! Why would your vet lie about the laser? Did they charge you for laser?? It seems Baby got the scalpel!! Your aunt is probably right! |
In my opinion, it looks liek Baby got her spay done the old fashion way. It's sad if your vet lied about doing the laser. :( |
I am sorry to tell you but Baby was not spayed with a laser. I have watched many dogs get spayed and this picture would be with a scalpel. Oh and my vet would never use stapels, that it weird that your vet used staples, not many vets around here do. Poor BaBy, it looks awful and like it hurts!! I have never seen a spay this bad before. I would be pretty upset with my vet and why they lied to you!!!! |
sure dosent look right to me either! I think that vet messed up! I would be calling him and taking them pics to him and asking him a few questions! |
2 Attachment(s) Cali was spayed in an emergency situation as they thought she had an intestinal blockage. She was in heat and needed liver and intestinal biopsies. The surgeon said that she used a bigger incision to minimize blood loss so their was no problem with spaying Cali during her heat. I couldn't believe how big her incision was. It doesn't look like your Baby had laser to me. |

Nobody else's furbaby had staples? |
Sissy was spayed at 7 months, the old fashioned way, but her incision was pretty small (more like Zoe's). All her stitches were internal and she healed very fast. She will be one year old next month and you can't even see her incision scar. |
Wow! I think what you're looking at is the difference between a Vet who should be doing surgery and one who SHOULDN'T be doing surgery! I would be furious with the size of the incision but the staples would have sent me over the edge! My advice........time for a new Vet. |
