Mickey Hated Being without me :( SO this results in him coming to Disney With me Well Wednesday morning i had to drop Mickey off at his vet to stay over night. They have a kennel there. THis was the big test of how not only him but myself would be without him for over a week in disney. Well, results= no way! I cried my eyes out as soon as I hit the car! I was clutching his leash I couldnt' bare to think of him by himself all alone at night ect... I missed him so much! I called to check on him that day and the next day they said he was quiet and didnt' eat much ect... he didnt know if he should come out of the cage in the morning. I felt so bad for leaving my baby there. He is very spoiled with me because Im' home alot since school is over till September and I dont work. I'm with him almost 24/7 which isn't to good because he's so spoiled having mommy with him always. When I picked Mickey up thursday night I talked to my vet about brining mickey with us. He said he would much rather be with me then stay in a kennel for a week. He said there is no risks in bringing him with me on the plane and I can try a slight dose of sediative since he hates the cage! Has anyone brought their dog on the plane? He of course will be in front of me on the plane as baggage. I know I wrote a post about this earlier but I'm nervouse and i know you are all the best to chat to about all of this! Thanks for the input everyone means alot! :mickey: |
we may go next week to disney but i can't find anyone to watch my yorkies i don't want them in a cage being boarded i don't know what i'm going to do! are there hotels in orlando that allows dogs? |
I have flown with Cecilia 6 or so times. She does great. Just make sure you follow all of the airlines guidelines. Different airlines have different rules as far as the number of pets in the cabin at once. Specific carriers aloud, etc. Are you planning on leaving him in a hotel at your destination or at a puppy daycare or at a friends house? Make sure that you don't leave him at a hotel if he is going to bark while you are gone. This can be a major problem for hotel staff and other guests. Plus housekeeping could come in while you are out and accidently let him out or even take him, in a worse case scenerio. Just some things to consider. |
When we go to a hotel and have to leave Mitzi alone we always bring her travel play pen, her blanky, some toys and loooots of treats. We always ask at reservation for a room away from the 'traffic' areas like stairwells, elevators etc. We leave the TV on and fairly loud so she doesn't hear so much the people walk by. We put up the 'Do not disturb' sign at the door and inform the desk of the situation. The longest we leave her alone is about 2 to 3 hours. She is doing very well and we never had any problems but she is used to be left alone at home and just needs her ' trigger phrase': You have to stay and be good! Then everything is o.k. :aimeeyork |

If you are going to Walt Disney World, they actually have wonderful air conditioned kennels there. I took phoebe there for the day(this past June) . The staff is great & they love little prince & princess types. You have to provided proof of current vacinnations according to Florida law. They charge $6 a day, for the day. You can call Disney directly and get more info. I was very pleased. I had also used the kennel facility several years ago when we were raising Guide Dogs for the Blind. I know that there is a kennel outside of each of the 3 parks the only one I am not sure of is Animal Kingdom, but there must be. Also check with your airline they only allow 2 animals in cabin and it must be pre booked. AA charges $80 each way & make sure you have a health cert. The airlines don't always require it but there is an agency that does and if you get stopped in the airport and don't have it, guess what you do not get to board. Have a great time. Muriel |
