Natural Remedies for fleas? Does anyone know of any natural remedies for fleas? I am worried that my yorkies will eventually go somewhere with fleas but I am trying to avoid Frontline because I actually had a cat that was allergic to it, so I'm trying to avoid it. Suggestions? Thanks! |
Garlic. Give your baby a small piece of the clove of garlic a day. |
Have you ever seen the skin rashes that can develope from an allergy to flea bites. I'd take my chances with the frontline. |

Flea Repellent: The best defence against fleas and ticks is to feed your pet a high quality, natural pet food, add 1/4 teaspoon of brewers yeast per 10 pounds of body weight to the food. The yeast will make the pets blood taste bitter to pest, keeping them from biting. Also, buy a flea collar that contains citronella and eucalyptus oils. it also says for Itch relief: If your pets are constantly scratching, add 1/4 teaspoon of brewers yeast or 1 capsule of garlic per 10 pounds of body weight to their daily diet. Brewers yeast helps maintain a healthy coat, and garlic works to cleance the blood. I will start a new thread to let others read this. |
Thanks, everyone. yougetthesmiles, what is the name of the book? I'm interested in looking into it. |
the set of books I have is called The Complete Guide to Natural Healing |
I also wanted to tell you, if you look at your pets food ingred. a lot of them have brewers yeast and garlic in them, so becarefull not to overdose your baby. |
According to the thread below, garlic is dangerous to dogs in large amounts: "While garlic also contains the toxic ingredient thiosulphate, it seems that garlic is less toxic and large amounts would need to be eaten to cause illness." http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...angerous+foods |

Sergeant's Nature's Guardian I just picked up this Natural Flea & Tick squeeze-on for dogs 15 lbs. & under. Gigi got her pseudo-spa treatment:p and then I applied this. The box states it kills and repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes with natural ingredients. Active ingredients are peppermint oil, cinnamon oil, lemon grass oil, clove oil, thyme oil and vanillin, isopropyl myrtate. There was no reaction when I applied it. It actually smelled like potpourri. It says it can be reapplied every 21 days. I will take it a step further and buy a flea collar and place it in my vacuum bag. We had lived in a place that former yorkies and their owners rented. The following summer we were infested with fleas. I took my friend's advice about the flea collar and never had a problem afterward.:aimeeyork |
Where can you get this? |
