Thats the first time I have heard of a pup getting bloody stools from a vaccination. How scary! My Jewels was very achy you could not pick her up she would cry and very lethargic.

I too only give 1 shot at a time. I am not going to take the chance ever. After all the shots are for dogs up to 85 lbs. Which I think is rediculous. I do Bordetello 1st then rabies last... You want them to be current on their vacinations first. Then the Rabies. Thankfully I have never had an allergic reaction on any of my puppies yet So I am very greatful.

Exactly what I was thinking. He should have warned you. Hm, did he make you pay for the next visit when she had her reaction? I hope he didn't! :thumbdown

Leptospirosis
 
Hi, Could I get some more responses on whether or not your puppies get the leptospirosis vaccine and if there have been any adverse effects? Sorry to be a worry wart!

I would ask your vet if there have been any cases of lepto in your area. There had been in mine and thats why my vet said they needed them. I know alot of people tell their vet no lepto shot.

It's up to you... some dogs get a reaction from the Bordatella itself.. so maybe the Bordatella first to see if your dog has a reaction.

You mean when I went back to get the shot for her reaction? No I didn't have to pay.. and yeah he should have warned me =P

Allergic Reactions
 
Thanks for the reply. He said that in 15 years he had never seen a reaction to the lepto vaccine but that he had seen animals die of leptospirosis. We have squirrels and raccoons frequently in our yard so I would guess that they could carry the disease. At any rate, no one has replied that their puppy has had a reaction to it, so guess I will go ahead.
