So TeeJay's back from his orthopedist and... he DOES NOT have luxating patella! yesssssss! However, he does have extremely mild arthiritis in his hips which his orthopedist said it's not something to worry about. She said the cause of his "skipping" is unknown. She thinks he might of hurt his leg somehow and pulled a muscle. The thing is, he's been skipping for months! Anyway, she said sometimes it wont heal if the dog is very active, jumping around everywhere. And well, that's TeeJay! So now I have to sort of "proof" the house and make sure he doesnt jump on anything which is near impossible to do. The orthopedist actually had to sedate him to get the x-rays. He's really groggy as we speak but he's still jumping (trying to) all over the place and he can barely walk straight! TeeJay is one hyper pup! Anyway, I am sooo glad I got a 2nd opinion. His vet originally told me that he had luxating patella in both knees and that surgery was imminent. I'm so glad I got x-rays and had a professional tell me that he'll be okay. It is definitely a huge sigh of relief for me. :D |
That's good news!!! |
Thats wonderful news! |
That's Great!!! I am so happy for you. I wish that were the same in my case. I have been to 2 Vets and 2 Ortho Specialists. Roxy does have Grade 3 LP in both rear legs. I have just scheduled her surgery on Wed. 7/19 with the Ortho Specialist. I am getting really nervous as I write this. My baby... I have to fast her that night and bring her in early in the morning. They will take blood and run the tests and also take x-rays of her legs and her chest/throat b/c she does have CT and they want to see exactly how bad (or not) it is, to make sure they do not hurt her in anyway with the tubes down her throat. They have a full house over there (lab) as well, so they will get the results immediately. She will then have bi-lateral surgery that afternoon, providing her blood test and chest x-ray say she is ok. I am requesting they keep her for at least 3 days to have peace and safe recovery. They have to shave her legs and her 'rump' but they will keep her tail hair. She is going to have some 'summer cut'    (Roxy now has a full head/body of beautiful black silky hair - the length is to the floor    ) Keep her in you thoughts and prays next week! :) THANKS!!!! :) |
Great news!:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |
